So, all four English teams have made it through at least to the play-offs. Two German teams are out, an Italian side is out and also a Spanish side.
In addition, PSG are certain to get a French team in the play-off.
That fifth Champions League place next season is looking pretty good for the Premier League.

The format is probably not geared towards the match going fan.
I worked out that in the first half alone the top eight had changed at least five times, with teams dropping out.
I imagine that if you are a paying spectator it is probably not for you if you are trying to keep on top of it on your phone. Then again VAR is probably not either is it?
From a neutral's point of view it has been a success because the quality of games has improved and then there has been a sense of jeopardy throughout the night. I would imagine UEFA would be very pleased with how the format has been received.

I'm not sold on enjoying this new format yet. I think I need a season still to get my head around it, to feel it out and make my judgement. There are pros and cons but I am not sold on it yet.
I am a sucker for the old format I watched growing up, the groups of four, the home and away games, going into the round of 16, quarter-finals and so on. That is how I have always thought of it. Maybe I am just scared of change.

Club Brugge boss Nicky Hayen is first into the press conference room at the Etihad Stadium.
He admits Manchester City deserved to win.
"We are really pleased at how we performed in the group phase," he said.
"In the first half we were really disciplined. We knew there was space at the back of the defenders but we made small mistakes in the second half and they punished us.
"They deserved to win.
"Credit to the group. They executed the plan in the best way possible. We are ambitious. Now we play Dortmund or Atalanta. We can still improve."

A massive, massive deal for Villa to finish in the top eight.
You think about how they are trying to develop under Unai Emery and looking to compete on the domestic and European fronts, to get a top eight place is credit to the manager and the team.
The pressure was on them tonight against Celtic, and there was a little wobble before half time. But they got there in the end, Morgan Rogers was unplayable.
They can now put their feet up as the other teams go head to head in the play-off.

Emery is actually in a perfect position. He has two great strikers fighting for that position.

On Amara Nallo getting sent off just four minutes into his Champions League debut: "It is cruel but he has never played first team football before and to make your debut in the Champions League is probably the hardest.
"He misinterpreted the situation and it's a big moment to learn from. It is cruel when you think I'm making my Champions League debut but you go off a few minutes later.
"A career isn't always positive, it also has negatives and he has to make sure he plays in this competition again."
On James McConnell: "If I had been surprised that would mean he had not been at this level in training, but he has been competitive. I'm not surprised but you always wonder how they will react on this stage at this level. James deserves credit for his performance today."

There is no doubt that Celtic will go into a tie with either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich as massive underdogs, but they have earned the right to be in the play-offs.
I have been pleasantly suprised by them in this Champions League campaign. They have shown maturity and that they have made progress.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers speaking to TNT Sports: "The word that screams at me is pride. The game was right in the balance right through to extra-time. We had a really challenging start being two nil down. We started the game well but then we conceded the two goals. Second goal was a brilliant goal. Game was right in the balance until the end. Pride is my initial feeling.
"Spirit was absolutely key. There's no good team that doesn't possess a really strong spirit. We had a couple of moments in the second half where we could've relieved the pressure. It was a great effort.
On Adam Idah: "His job is to make runs. His movement into the box was good. He needs to get up to game speed. He was a handful for them. Two really good finishes.
On playing either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich: "It's what the players deserve for what they've given over the course of the eight games. For us to be in the position is great for them. Us and the supporters can enjoy what we've done.

Young Boys end campaign without a point after Red Star loss
Swiss champions Young Boys concluded a forgettable Champions League campaign without a point after suffering a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Red Star Belgrade.
Guelor Kanga came off the bench to score the winner for the Serbian side as he rifled a Seol Young-woo cutback past Young Boys goalkeeper Marvin Keller and into the top corner with 21 minutes left on the clock.
Red Star began the game on the front foot but the game remained goalless at the halfway point with captain Mirko Ivanic and Cherif Ndiaye missing gilt-edged chances for the visitors.
Andrija Maksimovic fired wide for Vladan Milojevic's side before Kanga scored four minutes after coming on to inflict an eighth straight defeat on Young Boys in the competition.
Red Star, meanwhile, are also out and finished their campaign with six points from eight games.

Young Boys and Crvena Zvezda also met in last season’s UEFA Champions League stage, with the two teams playing out a 2-2 draw in Serbia before the Swiss side won 2-0 at home.
Crvena Zvezda’s only previous away win against Swiss opposition in European competition in nine attempts (D5 L3 – qualifiers included) came against Grasshopper Club Zürich in the 1990-91 European Cup first round (4-1).
Young Boys are one of only two sides – along with Slovan Bratislava – to have lost all seven of their matches in the UEFA Champions League this season. The last campaign to see a team lose more than seven matches was 2002-03, with both Bayer Leverkusen (9) and Lokomotiv Moscow (8) doing so.
After winning two of their first four home UEFA Champions League matches (D1 L1), Young Boys have only won one of their last eight (D1 L6), losing the last three by an aggregate score of 10-1.
Crvena Zvezda have lost their last 13 away matches across the European Cup and UEFA Champions League – no side has ever lost 14 in a row.
Young Boys only have one victory in their last 18 matches in the UEFA Champions League (D3 L14), while that came precisely against Crvena Zvezda (2-0 in November 2023). That was also the last time they scored more than once in a game in the competition, as well as the last time they kept a clean sheet.
Young Boys have lost their last four home matches in major European competition (one in the Europa League, three in Champions League). The only Swiss side to lose five in a row was Zürich between December 2007 and October 2009.
Young Boys have scored the joint-fewest goals (3) and goals from open play (2) in the UEFA Champions League this season (level with Bologna in both). They’re also the only team who haven’t scored a goal from inside the box from open play in the competition this term.
Crvena Zvezda had 21 shots against PSV last time out; their most in a UEFA Champions League game to date. However, they were beaten 3-2 on the night, despite amassing 2.66 expected goals and only conceding 0.83 in return.
Nasser Djiga was directly involved in both of Crvena Zvezda’s goals against PSV last time out in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the youngest player to both score and assist in a match for them in the competition (22y 067d).
