Dundee United have confirmed the signing of Celtic goalkeeper Lisa Rodgers on an emergency seven day loan ahead of this afternoon's trip to Motherwell.

The second game of the afternoon is about to get under way up in Aberdeen.

Not the most thrilling half of football I've ever laid my eyes on but that's not entirely surprising given what's at stake.

If it stays this way it's as you were for both of these sides. They put a little bit more of a gap between themselves and the bottom two of Hamilton Accies and Dundee United before they play Aberdeen and Motherwell respectively this afternoon.

Holly Daniel tries to get her foot on a cross inside the six-yard box but Alicia Yates manages to keep hold.

A late corner for Spartans is floated in beautifully and Robyn McCafferty does so well to get a touch on it and send it goalwards but it goes behind for a goal-kick.

Alicia Yates has to clear almost off the line as Montrose's header threatened to burst the back of the net.

She keeps it out and keeps it level.

Just about half an hour gone in Edinburgh in what's been a pretty cagey first half, neither side yet to grab the breakthrough.

Demi Taylor does really well to find Tally Robb in the box but she's cut out by Dion McMahon.

There was a wee break in play while Ronaigh Douglas received a bit of treatment but she's back to her feet and play resumes.

Montrose's free-kick is sent in by Jade McLaren and finds a pink shirt in the box but Spartans eventually manage to get rid.

Montrose have certainly grown into this one, they're getting forward a bit more and keeping Spartans out of any danger areas.

Montrose bolt up the other end and have a corner, it goes close as Alicia Yates is forced to tip away the cross.

Louise Brown then has a go from range but her effort is up and over the bar, didn't look massively far away though.

Another chance for Jack Beesley's side! Mya Bates goes racing down the left wing before the cross is sent low and into the box, no one in a Spartans shirt there to tap it home though.

Spartans break and Amelie Birse races to the byline but her attempted cross bulges the side netting.

Certainly looks like the wind could play a part in this afternoon's contest - looking very blustery on the east coast.
