Everton had failed to score in their first three WSL games this season

Everton finally got their first goal of the Women's Super League season as a second-half leveller rescued a draw at home against West Ham.

Having started the campaign with no goals across three matches, Everton found the net through a Camila Saez own goal when Melissa Lawley's cross deflected in off the Hammers defender.

Anouk Denton had given West Ham a 10th-minute lead with her first league goal for the club, smashing home from a few yards out after good hold-up play from forward Viviane Asseyi.

Both sides remain without a win in the WSL this season and have collected just two points from their four league matches.

Toffees continue wasteful form

Everton were the better side but were let down by their finishing, which has been a common theme for Brian Sorensen's side this season.

After their leveller they pushed for a winner and Megan Finnigan and Katja Snoeijs had efforts cleared off the line in stoppage time.

Honoka Hayashi also went close with a sliding effort at the back post to meet another cross from Lawley, poking just wide.

Everton had been the first side since Reading in 2021 to start the season without a goal across their opening three fixtures, having fired blanks against Brighton, Manchester United and Arsenal.

They stopped that run but have not won at home in the WSL since 18 February, when they enjoyed a 2-0 win against West Ham, a result they could not match this time around.
