    Andy Kiwomya
Ex-Bradford forward and head of performance on BBC Radio Leeds

The way Alex Pattison has started this game, you wouldn't believe he had a hamstring injury.

    He's so explosive.

  2. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 10 August

    Fleetwood 0-0 Grimsby

Lively start at Highbury Stadium, but no goals so far.

Ronan Coughlan went close for Fleetwood, hitting the post only to be adjudged offside in any case and debutant Mark Helm has just sent one whistling over the bar.

  3. CLOSE!published at 15:12 British Summer Time 10 August

    Harrogate 0-0 Bromley

So close to a maiden EFL goal for Bromley!

Cameron Congreve swings over the corner, where it's met by the head of Michael Cheek and Levi Sutton is in the right place to clear it off the line.

  4. Postpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 10 August

    Salford 0-0 Port Vale

A free-kick to the home side and Luke Garbutt's effort is pushed over by Connor Ripley.

Remember, Salford were 20th last season and head coach Karl Robinson will know that they must do much, much better this term.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 10 August

    Barrow 0-0 Crewe

Almost an opener for the visitors.

Shilow Tracey sends in the cross and Kane Hemmings heads against the bar. That would have been a dream start for the striker on his debut.

  6. 'MK Dons busy dreaming'published at 15:08 British Summer Time 10 August

    MK Dons 0-2 Bradford City

    Andy Kiwomya
Ex-Bradford forward and head of performance on BBC Radio Leeds

    Wonderful start from Bradford City.

That's really unsettled this MK Dons team.

Maybe they are distracted by the takeover. They are dreaming about what they could be rather than where they are right now.

  7. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 10 August

    Walsall 0-0 Morecambe

A nice moment at the Bescot Stadium ahead of Walsall against Morecambe.

A minutes applause fills the stands in memory of the late Craig Shakespeare, former player and coach who recently passed away at the age of 60.

  8. GOAL: MK Dons 0-2 Bradford Citypublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 10 August

    Sam Sherring (og 5 mins)

Dons defender Sam Sherring has his head in his hands less than five minutes into his debut for the club.

Again it's a Tyreik Wright cross from the left and Sheering lunges at it, slicing horribly beyond his own keeper.

Dons fans must already be recalling what they witnessed at the end of last season - shipping a flood of goals against Crawley in that play-off semi-final thrashing.

  9. GOAL: MK Dons 0-1 Bradford Citypublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 10 August

    Alex Pattison (2 mins)

What a start for Bradford City!

They break down the left flank and the ball is slipped inside to Alex Pattison, who rifles it beyond MK Dons goalkeeper Tom McGill from distance.

A fantastic finish and just what the Dons faithful didn't want to see...

    Salford 0-0 Port Vale

It is 112 days since Port Vale fans headed up to Bolton to witness their relegation to League Two.

Today over 1,300 Valiants have travelled up the M6 to the Peninsula Stadium to witness what they hope is the start of a great season.

  11. Postpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 10 August

    Harrogate 0-0 Bromley

The band of Bromley supporters who have travelled from Kent to north Yorkshire are in good voice as the game kicks off.

And why not? The club has waited 132 years to play an EFL fixture.

Not sure any in the away end have been alive that long though!

All games kick off at 15:00 BST

Colchester will be hoping to win their opening match of the season for the first time since 2013 when they visit AFC Wimbledon, and Cheltenham are aiming to improve on their poor recent record against Newport.

In the remaining fourth tier fixtures, Doncaster face Accrington, Gillingham host Carlisle and Walsall play Morecambe.

  14. Notts County must adapt to life after Langstaffpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 10 August

Tranmere Rovers v Notts County (15:00 BST)

How to replace a reliable goal machine like Macaulay Langstaff? That’s the conundrum facing Notts County as they begin the new campaign away to Tranmere.

The 27-year-old marksman, who banged in 42 National League goals in County’s 2022/23 promotion season and added another 28 to finish as League Two’s leading scorer last year, joined Millwall during the summer.

The club have added 10 new faces to their squad, while Tranmere – who finished two places below County in 16th position last season – have eight new arrivals on board.

Nigel Adkins’ side triumphed 4-2 the last time the two sides met at Prenton Park on New Year’s Day, with Connor Jennings – who makes the 450th appearance of his career this afternoon – grabbing two of the goals.

  15. Salford and Vale aiming for improved campaignspublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 10 August

Salford v Port Vale (15:00 BST)

Both teams have made significant changes over the summer and will be desperate to start the League Two season with a win after disappointment in 2023-24.

Salford struggled, winning only five home games last season, and finishing at the wrong end of the table in 20th - their worst campaign since joining the football league.

Meanwhile, Port Vale were relegated back to the fourth tier - two years after gaining promotion - following a lacklustre season.

But the Valiants have responded to that disappointment with renewed enthusiasm and boss Darren Moore and company have brought in a number of experienced players in the summer window and expectations at the club to return to the third tier immediately are high.

  16. A different kettle of fish as Cod Army take on Marinerspublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 10 August

Fleetwood Town v Grimsby Town (15:00 BST)

Fleetwood Town manager Charlie AdamImage source, Rex Features

It was a case of too little, too late for Fleetwood Town last season – their best run of the campaign, three wins in four games, was not enough to extend their decade-long stay in League One.

Having seen the Cod Army battered on a regular basis, Charlie Adam, the former Liverpool midfielder who succeeded Lee Johnson at Highbury Stadium midway through last season, will be expected to mount a strong bid for an immediate return to the third tier.

Fleetwood’s first opponents in League Two are Grimsby Town, who battled for much of last season to avoid losing EFL status for the third time in their history.

David Artell’s side, who eventually finished 21st in the table, have added nine new faces to their squad over the summer as they prepare for their first ever meeting with Town at this level.

  17. Can new boys Bromley "smash" their first ever EFL fixture?published at 14:48 British Summer Time 10 August

Harrogate Town v Bromley (15:00 BST)

These two former National League foes will be playing for more than points at Wetherby Road this afternoon, bragging rights are up for grabs as well.

Harrogate have quietly paced themselves since their return to the EFL and finished 13th last season, in their fourth consecutive League Two campaign.

But finding goals when they needed them most was often tricky and the club has failed to bring in any extra firepower in the summer transfer window.

New boys Bromley, arrive in the EFL for the first time in the club's 132 year history - what a moment this will be for them.

After a successful pre-season and busy summer of signings, at this point, anyone could feature in the club's starting line-up.

And boss Andy Woodman is up for the challenge that lies ahead, recently telling BBC Sport: "We're going to smash the doors open."

  18. Who has recovered best from last season's disappointment?published at 14:46 British Summer Time 10 August

    Barrow v Crewe (15:00 BST)

It's been a summer of change for Barrow with the arrival of new boss Stephen Clemence at the end of May, following mixed fortunes in League Two last season.

The Bluebirds started fast but fell away towards the end of the season and agonisingly missed the play-offs.

A number of new players have arrived but the board and coaching staff remains largely the same, so some consistency remains at Holker Street.

Their opponents Crewe, suffered their own heartbreak last season losing the play-off final at Wembley.

Boss Lee Bell has lost a number of influential players who helped his side overachieve last season.

Can his new arrivals from the summer transfer window gel in time to shake off any lingering hangover from last season's disappointment?

    Expect an evenly matched affair.

  19. Dons aim to bounce back from play-off heartbreakpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 10 August

MK Dons v Bradford City (15:00 BST)

MK Dons were beaten 8-1 on aggregate by Crawley in the League Two play-offsImage source, Rex Features

It’s the start of a new era in Milton Keynes, with Pete Winkelman – the architect of the club’s controversial move from Wimbledon and subsequent rebranding more than two decades ago – selling up to Fahad Al Ghanim’s Kuwait-based consortium.

An immediate target for the Dons’ new regime must be a successful promotion challenge, having missed out on the top three and then crashed to a humiliating 8-1 aggregate defeat to Crawley in the play-offs last season.

Liam Kelly, who scored Crawley’s opening goal in the first leg of that semi-final, is one of 12 new arrivals at stadium: mk this summer, while today’s visitors Bradford City have a familiar face at the helm.

Sacked after just 15 games as Dons boss last season, Graham Alexander is now in charge of the Bantams and oversaw a 4-0 victory against his former club in February.

A single goal for Bradford, now beginning their sixth successive season in League Two, would represent an improvement on their last five opening day fixtures – they have drawn a blank in all of those.
