United just havent got the squad for CL and WSL

    Matthew, Leeds

Running. On. Empty. It’s a shame… United are missing Phallon and it’s tough on Saf.

    Kevin, Birmingham

It comes from a simple ball into Beerensteyn. She does well to roll and drive into the box and everyone just backs off. They have to put pressure on. Middleton-Patel is unsighted as it goes past her into the corner.

  3. goal

GOAL - Wolfsburg 4-2 Manchester Unitedpublished at 65 mins

    Lineth Beerensteyn

She was just denied her second of the night, but Lineth Beerensteyn now has two goals.

Marc Skinner again won't be too happy with his side's defence. Beerensteyn spins past Dominique Janssen and charges at the United defence, with Maya le Tissier backing off.

Beerensteyn shoots low, Safia Middleton-Patel gets a foot to the strike, but it is not enough to keep it out.

A long way back for United.

United need to be more physical. So far they've been bullied.

[Safia] Middleton-Patel has a great leader and mentor in [Phallon] Tullis-Joyce who she can learn from and help her develop. The games she has been involved in will definitely put her in good stead for the future. She will have gained a lot of knowledge from those experiences.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 63 mins

    Wolfsburg 3-2 Manchester United

It has been a tough evening for Wales international Safia Middleton-Patel, but she does superbly here to get something on to Lineth Beerensteyn's powerful header to stop Wolfsburg getting a fourth.

Beerensteyn thought she had scored and punches the ground in frustration at not having done so again

  8. 'Shame to see Popp going off'published at 61 mins

    Wolfsburg 3-2 Manchester United

It's a shame to see Popp going off. She has been good in and out of possession, trying to help build attacks. But also defensively she is not afraid to put a challenge in, press the ball and make her presence be felt. Hopefully it's not too serious a problem.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 60 mins

    Wolfsburg 3-2 Manchester United

Wolfsburg captain Alexandra Popp has put herself about tonight with some strong, and maybe some questionable challenges, but her game is now done as she looks to have suffered an injury to her right knee and has had to come off, limping off the pitch.

On comes Germany international midfielder Lena Lattwein.

  10. Freezing conditions at Meadow Parkpublished at 19:02 GMT

Arsenal v Real Madrid (20:00 GMT)

There's only two words on everyone's lips tonight at Meadow Park.

It's not "European champions" or "Real Madrid" or even "three points"... It's actually just "it's freezing."

The temperature has dropped considerably in Borehamwood and there were barely any supporters in the stands when team news dropped.

Most of them were staying in their cars, in the pubs or near the burger van which is easily the warmest spot in the ground.

I know, we're English and discussing the weather again, but it will be interesting to see how it affects the atmosphere here tonight.

Arsenal are used to a packed crowd at the Emirates Stadium but have had to return to Meadow Park as a one-off due to a scheduling clash.

It was no surprise to hear it sold out immediately but can the supporters stay warm enough to make noise? Let's hope so.

I said Popp should have been booked in the first half and she’s just absolutely wiped out Malard off the ball. It’s shocking she’s not on a yellow or off the pitch at this point.

Popp might be lucky to not be in the book after that [challenge on Malard], because it was off the ball.

  13. CLOSE!published at 53 mins

    Wolfsburg 3-2 Manchester United

But United still believe and Ella Toone fizzes an effort at goal, but just over the top.

  14. 'Beerensteyn does excellently'published at 18:58 GMT

It was a really well worked cross into the box and Beerensteyn does excellently to just connect with it and try and bend it towards the back post. It just evades the target.

  15. CLOSE!published at 52 mins

    Wolfsburg 3-2 Manchester United

Almost a fourth for Wolfsburg as Lineth Beerensteyn connects with a cross from the right and steers it goalwards. If it is on target it is in the net, but luckily for United it drifts just wide with Safia Middleton-Patel nowhere near it.

Renee Slegers makes three changes to the Arsenal side who drew with Tottenham on Sunday.

Frida Maanum and Chloe Kelly come into the starting XI, replacing Beth Mead and Caitlin Foord.

Stina Blackstenius also drops to the bench as Olivia Smith returns to the side.

Arsenal XI: Van Domselaar, Fox, Wubben-Moy, Catley, McCabe, Cooney-Cross, Caldentey, Maanum, Kelly, Smith, Russo.

Subs: Borbe, Liddiard, Codina, Hinds, Nighswonger, Harwood, Pelova, Mead, Foord, Blackstenius.

There are plenty of familiar names in the Real Madrid starting XI including Scotland midfielder Caroline Weir.

She is one of the stars in the visiting side, alongside Colombian forward Linda Caicedo.

Experienced Germany midfielder Sara Dabritz and ex-Manchester City midfielder Filippa Angeldahl are also in the side.

Real Madrid XI: Rodriguez, Navarro, Mendez, Lakrar, Yasmim, Angeldahl, Dabritz, Weir, Athenea, Feller, Caicedo.

Two-goal Ella Peddemors has a yellow card as well now after stepping across and tripping United's Simi Awujo.

  18. 'Wolfsburg hoping to exploit space in behind'published at 49 mins

    Wolfsburg 3-2 Manchester United

You can just see Wolfsburg's first thought when they get the ball back is can they get Beerensteyn on her way with a direct ball? Hoping the United defence is high and they can exploit the space in behind.

Marc Skinner potentially has some big decisions to make at half time. Could the likes of Park and Terland come in?
