Christian Falk, head of football for German newspaper Bild, talking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Tuchel is not an easy guy. He has lots of problems with the bosses but in England it was very different. The English accept him more than the Germans. He always talked about England when in Bayern dressing room.
"His main problem was transfers but he doesn't have that problem in England.
"We are very proud as a country of him becoming England manager. He knows how to win titles and he could finally bring some trophy to England. He trusted in Harry Kane - so it's good news for Harry of course."
BBC Radio 5 Live
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger Pat Nevin talking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Tuchel loved English football, although he didn't last very long - and not many of his appointments do. What really impressed me at Chelsea was his ability to adapt. Very much a three centre backs and wing backs manager.
"But he wasn't liked at Bayern, Dortmund or PSG. A manager who will look at what he has got and adapt to that. He is a lot more adaptable than many manager and that is not a bad thing for England.
"He is not afraid of anything. But a manager who stays short term and wins trophies is someone who wins cups. The jobs he has done have been incredible."

Thomas Tuchel was a charismatic and successful leader at Chelsea and wrote himself into history by winning the Champions League in 2021.
The German was keen to stay on longer term in Roman Abramovich’s set-up which consisted of key figures, including Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech.
However, a rift quickly emerged after the two left following a change of ownership under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership which led to his exit in September 2022.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was exceptional with the English media, worked well with the club’s academy talent and was popular with supporters.
It's fair to say Tuchel also fell in love with English football during his spell in west London and has targeted a return to managing in this country.
Many former players remain loyal and friendly with Tuchel but the pragmatic style of play sometimes led to criticism.
BBC Radio 5 Live
German football expert Archie Rhind-Tutt talking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It is headline news in Germany. The bigger point is how is Tuchel perceived? He is not viewed with the warmth that Jurgen Klopp is in Germany
"It is not like everyone in Germany will be looking out for in England. He has never had that vibe to him. He didn't get the results at Bayern he wanted but qualities he showed there that made him attractive to the FA.
"Klopp to Red Bull has caused much bigger waves here. Tuchel has his ideas and an approach. His team was accused of being boring in January at Bayern.
"You can expect a controlled but dominant football and the question for me is, with the squad, he will make tough decisions that maybe Gareth Southgate didn't in terms of making all the quality players happy.
"He will have less qualms about upsetting people, which will be interesting how it plays out in terms of the media and the players. He had huge fall outs at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern."

I like the appointment. I think he has a clear identity. He doesn't have to sign players so now just focusing on the best players and it might just suit him.,
I do see the argument where does it leave English coaches but I think he will bring Ebglish coaches in.

I am a big fan of Tuchel and, yes, he is not the easiest to work with. He is very demanding and very stubborn.
He is a fantastic coach, the players love him, he is tactically one of the best, his man management is getting better, he is learning to be more pragmatic.
The image he has in Germany is very different to France and England.

Thomas Tuchel has a very clear way of playing.
The turnaround he produced at Chelsea, taking over after Frank Lampard was sacked in January 2021, to winning the Champions League in May the same year is one of the most impressive I have seen in football.
In his team that won the Champions League at Chelsea he had three English players in Reece James, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell.
Those three are away from the England squad now, but if Reece James is able to regain fitness and form he will be in and around the England squad and a possible option to come in and know what is wanted from the German.
England captain Harry Kane was signed by Tuchel when he was manager of Bayern Munich and had the best season of his career scoring 44 goals in 45 games.

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live
It has moved very quickly.
I think its a good appointment,. He ticks most of the boxes; the trophies, the clubs he has managed, his character. He has handled tricky situations in the media so he has the profile to handle being the England manager.
Is it a preference they are English? Yes. But ultimately we want to put the best person in place, who we feel will win a major tournament.
As a player once you get into the camps, you don't even think about it.
Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin talking to BBC Sport:
"It will be a phenomenal success or an utter disaster, it wont be in the middle."
Christian Falk, head of football for German newspaper Bild, talking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Tuchel is completely different to Southgate. He is extreme, he will shout. He will give his tactics to the team and perhaps he could be that little help to give them a title.
"I think it will be a very very good story. He is his own boss and it could really work out for England."
That's all for this live page for tonight, but we will have more reaction tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, we'll leave you with the best of the reaction from the footballing world tonight.
The Football Association have called a news conference for Wednesday afternoon at 13:30 BST at Wembley when we are expected to hear from Tuchel as well as members of the FA, explaining why they think he is the right man.
With Lee Carsley set to remain in charge for England's last two Nations League games, that would mean Tuchel's first match in charge of England will be in 2025.
World Cup qualifying (we don't know who England's opponents will be yet) takes place from March to November 2025. Only the group winners are guaranteed to automatically qualify, with play-offs, if needed, in March 2026.
The World Cup will be held in June and July 2026 in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Delighted about Tuchel becoming England coach because it means people will stop talking about him getting the United job. I don't think he's going to be very successful. Turbulence seems to follow him around.

With the FA determined to sign a manager from the highest shelf of football, Tuchel has understandably been identified as a desirable target.
Of course, many in England remember the way he led Chelsea to the 2021 Champions League success - beating Manchester City in the final - only four months after taking over a rattled team from Frank Lampard.
During a time of uncertainty when previous owner Roman Abramovich had to cease control over the club in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Tuchel suddenly found himself in the quasi role as spokesperson of the Blues – and he did a commendable job.
On the contrary, Tuchel's most recent endeavour at Bayern Munich left much more to be desired. Tuchel and considerable parts of the team never seemed on good terms during his 14-month spell.
This has recently been reiterated with Vincent Kompany, Bayern's new manager and Tuchel's successor, receiving a lot of praise for how he is handling the dressing room and providing the Munich outfit with a new spark.
Whether Bayern's slight downfall last season, which ended up being the first trophyless campaign in over a decade, was mainly Tuchel's fault or not, the German manager can be a somewhat divisive figure.

Peter Humfrey: People need to stop confusing club and international management. They're wildly different. I would much rather have preferred Carsley, even with recent performances. I hope Tuchel proves me wrong but I just can't see us winning anything under him.
Tournament record: Quarter-final at 2002 World Cup, quarter-final at Euro 2004, quarter-final at 2006 World Cup.
Overall record: Played 67, won 40, drawn 17, lost 10, scored 128, conceded 61, win ratio 59.7%.
Sweden's Sven-Goran Eriksson became the first non-British manager of the England team, taking over in January 2001.
An excellent 5-1 away win in Germany gave England a chance of qualifying for the 2002 World Cup, which they did thanks to a dramatic 2-2 draw with Greece, with David Beckham scoring a 93rd-minute equaliser.
Eriksson guided England to three tournaments, but they went out in the quarter-finals in 2002, Euro 2004 and then the 2006 World Cup.
In 2002, they were beaten 2-1 by Brazil and in the other two competitions were eliminated on penalties by Portugal. The 2006 World Cup was always going to be Eriksson's last in charge of England after he announced five months earlier that he would leave the job when the tournament finished.

The golden age of Southgate will be really tough to follow and Tuchel will be judged a failure if we don’t win the Euros or the World Cup which in all probability we won’t. In the meantime he will face criticism for any or all of the following. Not singing the national anthem. Divided loyalties when we play Germany. Picking TAA. Not picking TAA. Being paid too much. Upsetting the media. Complaining about his FA bosses. Not being the German we really wanted. So good luck Thomas. That's what you really need.

England Under-21s have finished their qualifying campaign for the 2025 Under-21 European Championship in style.
The Young Lions, the reigning European champions after winning last year with Lee Carsley in charge, had already qualified for next summer's tournament in Slovakia and crushed Azerbaijan 7-0 at Bristol City's Ashton Gate.
It was 2-0 at half-time following goals from Charlie Cresswell and Callum Doyle. Further goals came from Manchester City's James McAtee, an own goal from Jalal Huseynov, with Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson making it five.
Dane Scarlett, on loan at Oxford United from Tottenham, made it six and Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson added a seventh in the last minute.
England finish top of Group F, moving above Ukraine, who lost 1-0 at Serbia, although Ukraine had already qualified as well.
