Caylan Vickers' deflected strike gave Barnsley victory at Peterborough that maintained their encouraging start to the League One season.

The Tykes have picked up 10 points from their first four fixtures, in contrast to the Posh who remain without a point and without a league goal from open play in their campaign.

It took 38 minutes for the game's first chance of note as Kyrell Lisbie pulled the ball back for Klaidi Lolos whose shot was beaten away by Murphy Cooper.

It was Barnsley who went ahead in the 44th minute when a whipped shot from outside the area by Vickers was deflected in off Posh centre-back David Okagbue.

Tykes defender Jack Shepherd had an effort cleared off the line by Brandon Khela in first-half stoppage time before Khela looped a shot onto the top of the bar five minutes after the restart.

Barnsley captain Luca Connell's free-kick was then tipped onto a post by Vicente Reyes before David McGoldrick also struck an upright with 15 minutes left.
