Bournemouth scored two goals in second-half stoppage time for the first time ever in a Premier League game
Outplayed throughout this encounter, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola could scarcely believe what he had just witnessed at the final whistle.
Coming into the match on the back of two frustrating Premier League draws and a Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham, he was able to savour their first win of the campaign in barely believable circumstances.
However, there was also some delight in way his team pressed forward late on to punish a wasteful and ultimately vulnerable Everton side, who panicked after Antoine Semenyo's 87th minute tap-in brought them back to 2-1.
The Spaniard should also take credit for attempting to go on the offensive as his side struggled, with the introduction of Django Ouattara and Luis Sinisterra proving key to the final outcome.
Burkina Faso winger Ouattara's assist allowed Semenyo to give the visitors hope, then the Colombia winger delivered an assist and a goal as the Cherries' sensational fightback moved them up to seventh in the table.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, speaking to MOTD: "It was the worst game we played this season. We had been playing very well before but Everton deserved to win today. But the players kept pushing.
"In a game we didn't probably deserve to win we kept fighting and they had this willingness to win the game.
"I value it a lot because I think the players kept believing in a very difficult moment.
"I always have hope because this team has spirit. We have done it before and had some good comebacks. The spark of the first goal made us believe we could do it again.
"We have to accept that for most part of the game Everton deserved to win. This was a key game, same for Everton, we had come from good performances but had just got two points. We have some tough games coming and this was an important result for us."

Sutton's predictions: Everton v Bournemouthpublished at 11:01 31 August 2024

Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches this season, against a variety of guests.
For week three, he takes on MOBO Award-winning drum & bass legend and producer Adam F.
Sutton's prediction: 1-1
This is massive for Sean Dyche. They've not scored, conceded seven and the Everton fans are pretty underwhelmed.
I think Everton will stay in the Premier League this season. They could do with a goal against Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth who came on leaps and bounds last season.
Adam F's prediction: 1-1
Everton lost at home to Brighton on the first day of the season. I know this is their last season at Goodison but it hasn't been much of a fortress for them recently

Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto has completed a season-long loan move to Arsenal.
The 35-year-old joined the Cherries from Barcelona in August 2022 and has gone on to play 63 times in all competitions for the club.
Neto has featured in Bournemouth's Premier League games against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle this season, as well as Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fixture at West Ham United.
Speaking before the deal was announced, Andoni Iraola said the move was "a very good option" for Neto as the Cherries are "in a really good place" after sealing the loan signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on Thursday.
"The main idea of the club is to have three keepers," added Iraola.

Iraola on Neto, improved squad competition and Evertonpublished at 11:23 30 August 2024

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Everton (15:00 BST).
Here are the key lines from his news conference:
Bournemouth have no fresh injuries after the midweek Carabao Cup defeat at West Ham. Max Aarons will return to the squad after missing the game because of illness.
The Cherries are yet to win this season but Iraola is happy with the performances so far: "I really liked the two games we've played. It's true that the reward has been very little considering the performances. I see players in a good moment. For sure, we need to improve because the games are decided in the boxes and we need to take our chances, but I like the way the team is playing."
On Neto's potential move to Arsenal, following the arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea: "If it happens I think it would be a very good option for him and we're in a really good place with Kepa. [Mark] Travers is staying as well. The main idea of the club is to have three keepers."
Iraola is satisfied with the Cherries' transfer window so far: "I'm happy with the players we have. Obviously as a manager you want the best players possible, but I think we have very good players. The level of competition has grown a lot and everyone has improved."
On the challenge posed by Everton: "It's a very difficult game to go to Goodison to play. They push you a lot there. We have the experience from last season - it was one of the worst games we played for sure. They were better than us. I hope we can learn from that experience. I think we are a more solid team not but even doing good things is not enough to get a result there."
He was not drawn into criticism of referees after controversial decisions against Newcastle and West Ham: "I try to focus on the things we can control. I try not to think too much about those things and focus on the things you can change, trust the referees and hope they can do a good job. I don't want to continue with focusing too much on the refereeing."

Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto is having a medical with Arsenal on Friday morning before a loan move.
Kepa Arrizabalaga's arrival at the Cherries from Chelsea meant the Cherries were open to doing a deal and that was agreed on Thursday night.
With Aaron Ramsdale on his way to Southampton, Neto will presumably be back-up to Gunners number one David Raya.

Here's all you need to know about transfer deadline day on Friday...
When does the window close?
The transfer window will close at 23:00 BST on Friday, 30 August for the Premier League, English Football League and Scotland.
The date was brought forward by the domestic leagues to align with European leagues.
Across Europe, the Bundesliga window will close at 19:00, Ligue 1 at 22:00, La Liga at 22:59 and Serie A at 23:00, but the Saudi Pro League transfer window remains open until 7 September.
Can a Premier League player signed on deadline day play this weekend?
Under league rules, new signings are eligible for the next Premier League game if the club submit the required documents by midday on the last working day before that match.
So any player signed after 12:00 on deadline day would be unable to play in this round of Premier League fixtures.
Where can I see all the confirmed transfer deals on deadline day?
Clubs will be able to make transfers again from Wednesday, 1 January until Monday, 3 February at 23:00 GMT. This is the same in Germany, Italy, Spain and France.
How can I follow transfer deadline day on the BBC?
You will also find regular updates on BBC Radio 5 Live and breaking news across BBC Sport's social media channels, including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
There will also be a special edition of The Football News Show on BBC iPlayer and the Red Button from 22:00 until 23:15.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola on the defeat to West Ham and his frustration over Jarrod Bowen's goal: "When you think it’s impossible something else happens. It has happened again.
"It is even more clear. I don’t know what to say. We are not making these mistakes but we are suffering the consequences, and we are out of the competition because of a mistake.
"I don’t know what we have to do to change something but obviously it’s costing us a lot.
"We haven’t won on Sunday because of VAR and we are out of the cup because there is no VAR."
