'This team finds a way' - Artetapublished at 18:44 5 October

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Sport: "The start was exceptional, the dominance, the chances. It was unbelievable not to go one, two, three goals up.
"We conceded the goal and then it was game on. I thought the team reacted with a lot of authority and I am happy the team can react like this - but not happy after the chances we had that we had to go through that.
"The substitutes changed the energy and also the feel in the crowd. We won in the end and I think we deserved it.
"The way we started was phenomenal but we didn't get our reward. We had a difficult context at 1-0 but we did it."
On Kai Havertz: "He's really hungry, such an intelligent player, he is so focused to achieve what he wants and was exceptional again.
"We lost so many players last international break, [it is a] very difficult schedule but this team finds a way. [It is a] good platform to continue the season."
Arsenal 3-1 Southampton: Saka stars in comeback winpublished at 18:13 5 October

Given the recent standards being set by Manchester City, who pipped Arsenal to the title by just two points last season, Mikel Arteta’s side know all too well the need to be near-perfect, even in these early stages.
Following some tricky moments in their past two league games against promoted clubs Leicester City and, on Saturday, Southampton, the Gunners have reached the October international break in excellent shape.
The numbers spoke volumes at half-time at Emirates Stadium, where dominant Arsenal managed to land just one of 14 attempts on target – the same as Southampton.
But it did not take long - three minutes, in fact - for Arsenal to process the shock of falling a goal behind to the struggling, winless Saints. And, although undoubtedly frustrated that his side even found themselves in that position - Arteta will be delighted with the Bukayo Saka-inspired response.
It is now 16 games unbeaten in all competitions for Arsenal, who became only the second club after Manchester United to record 400 Premier League home wins.
And they pause for the latest international break with their title challenge alive and well, one point behind pace-setters Liverpool.

Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches this season, against a variety of guests.
For week seven, he takes on Will Champion and Jonny Buckland from Coldplay, whose latest album, Moon Music, came out on Friday.
Sutton's prediction: 3-0
Arsenal are so adaptable and know how to win any game, something you cannot say about Southampton at the moment.
I was a bit worried to see Saints boss Russell Martin call his players out publicly after their defeat by Bournemouth, because that never bodes well.
I have lots of admiration for Russell, who sticks to his principles about how he wants his team to play, but Arsenal are so streetwise and ruthless, this could turn into a tough afternoon for them.
The Gunners’ defence is so strong, they will keep a clean sheet - I am expecting everyone to go for a 3-0 Arsenal win here, the readers included!
Distance and sprint - which team does it best?published at 18:01 4 October

Chris Collinson BBC Sport statistician
There can often be a lot of focus on distances covered and sprints made by teams, but how much of a difference does it really make to their success?
When it comes to distance covered by teams it is the 'battle of the B's' with Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford having covered the most ground in the Premier League so far this season.
At the other end of the scale, bottom side Wolves have run the least so far - 5km fewer than any other side.
Initially, I thought this could be due to how difficult their start has been (i.e. sitting deep and not rushing out against top opponents), but they actually rank mid-table in pressing stats (with no players missing via red cards either).
But, it is worth noting that running a lot does not necessarily equal success.
Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Chelsea and Aston Villa have also been the 'laziest' teams so far yet have started the season well.
It is a similar story when it comes to sprints too - some good teams sprint a lot, some good teams sprint little.
Tottenham have made the most sprints in the Premier League this campaign, followed by fellow high-pressers Liverpool and Bournemouth.
But defending champions Manchester City have made the least – 60 fewer than any other team – and yet they have been pretty good so far too.
Looking at which teams have made the most sprints – Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea – and which the fewest – City, Arsenal, Villa – it suggests that playing style plays a part in how much a team sprints as well as just work rate.

Who are Premier League's biggest and best runners?published at 16:34 4 October

Six games down and players are racking up the mileage in the Premier League. But who has been hitting the top marks so far?
Southampton’s Flynn Downes has put in the biggest shift, covering almost five kilometres more distance than any other player in the Premier League so far.
It is also notable too that striker Kai Havertz is working hard for the Arsenal cause as they challenge for the title once again, while Dwight McNeil is backing up his early goalscoring with some serious work rate.
Already the fastest player in Premier League history after clocking 37.8km/h against Brentford last campaign, it is no real surprise to find that Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven has been the fastest over the first six games.
However, it is also notable to see Manchester City's ruthless forward Erling Haaland up there too. Speed just one part of the monstrous physicality that gets him so many chances and goals.
Finally, what about the most sprints?
That goes to Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon who has made the most sprints in the Premier League so far this term.
He is 'running' away with it too, having clocked up 13 more than any other player.
Arteta on Ramsdale, unbeaten run and Southamptonpublished at 14:26 4 October

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Southampton (kick-off 15:00 BST).
Here are the key lines from his news conference:
Defender Oleksandr Zinchenko will probably be back after the international break "if everything goes well" but it is "difficult to give a timeline" on midfielder Martin Odegaard.
Arteta said his side has had to "be different" without captain Odegaard because the impact he has is too big to try to replicate with one player. "We have found a way but we still miss him a lot because he is one of the most important players for us."
Aaron Ramsdale will return to Emirates Stadium for the first time since joining Southampton in the summer and Arteta was full of praise for his former goalkeeper: "I was very grateful for what he did. When we signed him, there was a lot of noise around him. We helped him to create the environment that he needed because we believed in his potential. He showed it, he won the respect and admiration of all of us. Then the circumstances change and this can happen. It was difficult to deal with that situation in a natural way and we decided to part ways and hopefully he is grateful as well."
On Southampton: "From what I have seen, they deserve much more than what they have already. This is the Premier League and the small details are so important to get results."
Arsenal could become just the second club after Manchester United to secure 400 home wins in the competition with victory. Arteta spoke on what it means to manage at the Emirates: "Huge privilege every time I am sitting there and surrounded by the players, our supporters and being part of that incredible atmosphere. It makes me proud that we have built something special here that our people feel proud of, that the players enjoy what they do and hopefully we can continue to win football matches."
On his side being on a 15-game unbeaten run: “The team has built that consistency and that capacity to win matches because the 11 players are so committed in every phase of play and they have this hunger and desire to compete for every ball.”

The Key Match Incidents panel was unanimous in its backing of referee Samuel Barrott's call not to award a second yellow card to Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori against Leicester City.
The Italian was booked in the 49th minute of the game but escaped further punishment in the 70th minute for a tackle on Foxes loanee Facundo Buonanotte.
The panel wrote: "It's a careless challenge, not reckless. It doesn't stop a promising attack as [Thomas] Partey is right there covering."
The KMI panel, made up of five members, includes three ex-players and managers.

'The nugget of a good idea'published at 12:39 3 October

People are beginning to waver about the champions and not just because of the long-term loss of Rodri and the obvious growing fragility of Kevin de Bruyne’s body.
Another seed of doubt about City has appeared to blossom after they faced a rigid deep defence last week. Pep Guardiola’s men were strangely short of ideas and in turn good chances even with an extra man. Granted Arsenal defended well, but this week against a full complement of Leicester defenders sitting just as deep, Arsenal continued to develop chance after chance from a variety of different situations.
It looks like Pep has a plan A, and plan B is simply to do plan A better. Arteta on the other hand does all the things that City do but is happy to add something less puritanical on top. Set piece domination in the old English POMO (Position of Maximum Opportunity) style, is the antithesis of the original Ajax/Cruyff/Barcelona/Pep way, but Mikel doesn’t care.
Whisper it, but when these power plays are used in tandem with quality football maybe Sam Allardyce, Sean Dyche, Graham Taylor, Tony Pulis and even Wimbledon’s Crazy Gang had the nugget of a good idea.
Don’t expect anyone in the modern game to own up to this however, in English football’s poshest modern circles, it would be social suicide.
