Club World Cup Q&A: Send in your questions for our Chelsea reporterpublished at 14:36 BST 12 June
14:36 BST 12 June
The inaugural expanded Fifa Club World Cup gets under way on Sunday, with Chelsea's tournament starting on Monday, 16 June against Los Angeles FC (20:00 BST).
The Blues' 28-man squad was confirmed on Tuesday and they are now preparing to travel out to the United States.
There is still some uncertainty and confusion surrounding the competition and how exactly Chelsea will approach it given it is the first iteration in this format.
BBC Sport football news reporter Nizaar Kinsella will be in the US following Enzo Maresca's side, so we're giving you the chance to put your Club World Cup-related questions to him.
They could be about the Blues' aims for the tournament, squad decisions, new signings, opponents, fan excitement, his own expectations... whatever's on your mind.
Chelsea to trim sizeable loan grouppublished at 11:48 BST 12 June

Chelsea are open to the fact that they need to sell a host of players, especially those that spent last season on loan.
The club's policy is not to carry a large group of loanees that are not expected or likely to make it into the first team.
In their 28-man Club World Cup selection, only one loanee progressed into Enzo Maresca squad from last season, midfielder Andrey Santos.
The rest, Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Djordje Petrovic, Armando Broja, Joao Felix, Renato Veiga, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu and more - are mostly available for sale. The asking price for Kepa is known to be only £5m as he enters the last year of his contract, while Benfica are being credited with serious interest to re-sign Felix.
In Sterling's case, the winger made 12 starts on loan at North London club Arsenal last season while the Blues paid around half of his current £300,000-a-week wages.
EFL loanees like Alfie Gilchrist, Alex Matos, Leo Castledine and Zak Sturge are also exploring permanent transfers away from Stamford Bridge.
Defender Sturge, 20, is in advanced talks about making his loan move at Millwall permanent at the end of the season.
Chelsea prefer sales rather than loan moves at this stage but could relax their position later in the transfer window if they struggle to find exits for players.
Midfielders Kendry Paez and Mathis Amougou are expected to join Strasbourg on loan while goalkeeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe is in talks over a new contract and potentially joining League One club Bolton Wanderers on loan.
'Excited to face elite European teams' or 'glorified pre-season tournament'?published at 11:28 BST 12 June

We asked for your views on Chelsea's squad for the Club World Cup, and your general feelings about the tournament.
Here are some of your comments:
Chris: Not one decent goalkeeper, yet Maresca is happy to 'give away' Kepa! I'm not surprised the Gooners are champing at the bit to sign him. He was better at Bournemouth last season than any of the keepers he's included in this squad! Badiashile, who he's quite happy to move on too, is included, as is Nkunku, who hates playing for us! Can't wait to see Delap, who I think could score a lot of goals for us!
Adam: I have been attending Chelsea matches since 1987 and find the concept of this tournament very interesting. Mixed messages from the club though... a great money earner but too tiring for players? Being forced to expand the squad to cater for such games will surely eradicate any financial benefits? I am sad for the fans who have been fleeced for tickets yet again. Let's see how the experiment goes.
Nick: Veiga and Felix are the two I would like to have seen in the squad. Felix in particular is a luxury player but has so much quality. I would love to try Felix and Palmer behind Delap. It remains to be seen if there is any way back for Nkunku. Excited to see how Santos gets on.
Mark: On one hand I'm excited to go up against some of the elite European teams as that should put us in better stead for the Champions League. But this tournament is at the wrong time of the season. Players need a break and we'll suffer for it before the end of the season I expect.
Joe: Not that excited about the Club World Cup, to be honest. It'll be good for Maresca to see how new players get on and try new systems, but essentially I see this as a glorified pre-season tournament. Give the players some time off and get them ready for a huge season.
Dan: Hearing Petrovic wanted to be left out is a slight blow, as is the failings of whoever to get Maignan. If we really want to push on this season we cannot have Sanchez in goal again, even if he was relatively solid in the run-in.
Chelsea release 2025-26 away kitpublished at 08:33 BST 12 June

Chelsea have unveiled their away kit for the 2025-26 season.
"In the early 1970s and fresh from securing our first FA Cup and European trophy, Blues manager Dave Sexton, himself an artist when it came to the tactical game, introduced a Chelsea away strip coloured as a tribute to Hungary's famous 'Magnificent Magyars' side from two decades earlier, whose extravagant patterns on the pitch had so influenced his own winning football," the club said.
"Soon, the simple plain red, white and green of that kit evolved into a white shirt with a broad red and green vertical stripe, whose theme is now reimagined in a subtle form 50 years on."
The club also confirmed that the shirt will be worn in Club World cup matches against Flamengo and ES Tunis and later this month.

Analysing Chelsea's 28-man Club World Cup squadpublished at 19:32 BST 11 June

The main headlines from Chelsea's 28-man Club World Cup squad are that it includes the usual star names like Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo, while Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are among those omitted.
However, this is a squad picked both to win the competition and for pragmatic reasons by manager Enzo Maresca.
Other exciting selections are new signings Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, Mike Penders and Mamadou Sarr.
Maresca opted against taking the maximum 35 players to ensure a happier group, while only midfielder Andrey Santos has managed to make it back into the main squad after a loan spell away.
The rest of the loanees, including Sterling, Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Djordje Petrovic and Joao Felix, will be allowed to stay on holiday. They are then likely to return to Cobham for training.
All those listed in the above paragraph are available for sale. Goalkeeper Petrovic rated at Stamford Bridge but all parties agree a move away from the club is the best option for his continued development, despite a productive loan at partner club Strasbourg.
The Serbia international does have an image rights issue that could impact a permanent transfer, so loan options are also being explored.
Among those not selected are Juventus loanee Renato Veiga. A source close to the player says the defender had expected to return to Chelsea to play in the competition after winning the Nations League with Portugal.
The source added that Juve had wanted to at least extend Veiga's loan for the duration of the Club World Cup, but an expectation the Blues would not release him for the newly expanded tournament in the United States made him less attractive to sign.
Midfielders Mathis Amougou and Kendry Paez have also not been selected due to expected loan moves to Strasbourg.
Sources close to Paez, who has only just joined the club for £17.2m from Independiente del Valle, have also expressed their surprise at his omission.
Veiga and Paez appear to be two isolated incidents, with the majority of those not picked having expected not to take part.
Meanwhile, the likes of Trevoh Chalobah, Christopher Nkunku, Gabriel Slonina and Aaron Anselmino could all still leave the club, despite being selected to travel.
Interestingly, Borussia Dortmund included winger Jamie Gittens in their squad hours after Chelsea bid over £42m to sign him, which means he is cup-tied even if the Blues return to seal his signature after a newly introduced mini-transfer window for the tournament closed on Tuesday.
The Blues will also face Flamengo and ES Tunis in the group stage of the tournament in the United States.
So, how excited are you about the competition and how confident are you Chelsea can go far? And are you happy with the state of Enzo Maresca's squad going into the tournament after the mini-transfer window?
Blues' travelling partypublished at 16:56 BST 11 June
16:56 BST 11 June
Enzo Maresca has named a strong squad for the upcoming Club World Cup, despite leaving a number of senior players out.
Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Axel Disasi and Ben Chilwell have not been included - a quartet that cost about £179m in transfer fees and all ended last season out on loan.
However, star players like Cole Palmer, club captain Reece James and the £200m midfield pairing of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are all included.
Also travelling are new signings Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr, Dario Essugo and young goalkeeper Mike Penders.
Chelsea's first match in the competition is at 20:00 BST on 16 June against Los Angeles FC.
'I'm not responsible for late offer' - Dortmund sporting director on Gittenspublished at 15:35 BST 11 June

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has said the club "looked very seriously" at an offer from Chelsea for winger Jamie Gittens.
The Blues had a bid worth just over £42m rejected on Tuesday for the 20-year-old, who was then included in the Bundesliga side's squad for the Club World Cup, meaning he would now be unable to play Chelsea in the competition.
"There was contact with Chelsea FC, who got in touch again yesterday afternoon, Kehl said on Wednesday. "We spoke again on the phone and exchanged expectations and different ideas.
"In the end, we didn't come to an agreement because we have different ideas about the player's current value. But the talks were very, very respectful. We have been in very good dialogue with Chelsea for many years.
"We are happy Jamie will now be part of our team at the Club World Cup and are delighted he is staying.
"I'm not responsible for the late offer- but, of course, I still have to deal with it and that's what we've done.
"We looked into it very seriously, but in the end we also made a decision for ourselves.
"It's still absolutely OK that Chelsea made this attempt. And, once again, we are in good dialogue. Let's see how things develop in the future."
Ranking third overall behind Real Madrid and Barcelona, Manchester United total 233.6 million subscribers and followers across X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
Rivals Manchester City are second highest out of Premier League clubs and fifth overall with 179.5m, with Liverpool (166.7m) and Chelsea (152.9m) just behind.
Arsenal also make the global top 10 with 114.1m, meaning there are five English teams inside the top 10.
Spurs just miss out in 11th with 108.1m, but they did gain an extra 700,000 followers over their North London rivals since June 2024.
A total of 15 English clubs make the top 100, with Leeds United squeezing into the 100th spot with 6.4m.
While fans may not sing about social media followers, global interest has a hand in paying the bills at their beloved football clubs.
In the defeat to Senegal, Trevoh Chalobah became the eighth different Chelsea player to make his England debut since the start of 2019 (after Hudson-Odoi, Mount, Tomori, James, Colwill, Palmer & Madueke); the most for any club in this period.
No more movement expected at Chelsea as transfer window closespublished at 20:59 BST 10 June

The transfer window has closed temporarily and, despite approaches from Chelsea in recent days, the Blues did not complete any more signings on deadline day.
It is expected Chelsea will revisit the Jamie Gittens signing in the coming weeks after having an offer worth more than £42m rejected by Borussia Dortmund.
There is less certainty around the Mike Maignan situation, with the club potentially not returning to it until January, when the AC Milan goalkeeper can agree a pre-contract as a free transfer.
Defender Renato Veiga also remains at Stamford Bridge despite interest from Juventus to either extend or make his successful loan move a permanent one.
He will not play at the Club World Cup with the Serie A side and is ready to play for the Blues at the tournament in the United States, which gets under way for Enzo Maresca's side on 16 June.
The club are set to reveal their travelling squad for the competition on Wednesday.

Chelsea have had an offer worth just over £42m rejected by Borussia Dortmund for English winger Jamie Gittens.
The 20-year-old already has a seven-year contract on the table and is thought to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
But the two clubs are struggling to meet in the middle on their valuation, despite the England Under-21 international not fitting into the system of manager Niko Kovac, who joined the German club in February.
The latest rejection casts doubt over whether Gittens will join Chelsea in time to take part in the Club World Cup, with a first transfer deadline for the competition at 19:00 BST on Tuesday.
Chelsea have not ruled out further approaches for Gittens after the deadline, but also have interest in Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho and Mohammed Kudus of West Ham.
Sarr made 28 appearances for the French side in 2024-25, helping them to finish seventh in Ligue 1 and book a spot in the Conference League play-offs.
"It's simple. The dream is to win the Premier League and the Champions League with Chelsea," he told club media.
"I feel really good. It's like a dream for me. Since I was young I dreamed of playing for a club like this. Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and I am very happy.
"For me, Chelsea is the best club in London, one of the best clubs in England. Chelsea have a good project in place for young players. The supporters, the club, it's history and the stadium are all fantastic. It's an iconic club with a full history."
Sarr will be linking up with some familiar names, having played alongside Andrey Santos and Djordje Petrovic during the past campaign, and having come through the youth ranks at Lyon with Malo Gusto.

Jamie Gittens' proposed move to Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund is in the balance when it comes to being completed before the Club World Cup registration deadline.
Chelsea are keen on the wide player and ideally would have had him in for the duration of the tournament.
But that might not happen.
The interesting thing then will be whether he is included in Niko Kovac's Dortmund squad, as players are not allowed to appear for more than one club in the competition.
As my colleague Nizaar Kinsella has previously reported, Chelsea are prepared to wait, but there is a mid-tournament deadline which allows new arrivals to be added to squads for the knockout phase.
Clearly, that could not happen if he had already played for Dortmund.
The German giants begin their campaign against Fluminense on 17 June and Chelsea begin their tournament against Flamengo on 20 June.
With the transfer window opening again on 16 June, there is an outside chance a deal could be struck before Chelsea's campaign begins.
Man City sign Bettinelli from Chelseapublished at 15:11 BST 10 June
15:11 BST 10 June
Manchester City have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea for a small undisclosed fee.
Bettinelli joins on a one-year deal and is expected to replace Scott Carson as Pep Guardiola's third-choice behind Ederson and Stefan Ortega.
The club also confirmed he will travel to the US for the upcoming Club World Cup.
The 33-year-old made just one appearance in four years at Stamford Bridge, in an an FA Cup third-round win in January 2022.
"It's an honour to sign for City," Bettinelli said. "I have admired from afar what this club has achieved since Pep Guardiola arrived and now, I am excited to be a part of building on that success.
"Hopefully I can contribute in training, the dressing room and on the pitch as we look to win more silverware over the next year."
Maignan deal could be paused until January and Gittens talks continuepublished at 13:17 BST 10 June
13:17 BST 10 June
Nizaar Kinsella BBC Sport football news reporter
Chelsea have a clear valuation for goalkeeper Mike Maignan but they are refusing to pay AC Milan's asking price, so a deal is not expected to happen today.
It is worth noting the Blues can go to Maignan in January and sign him on a pre-contract for a free transfer.
They did see him as an opportunity but remain content enough with current goalkeeping options Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic and Filip Jorgensen.
Mike Penders, who signed a contract almost 12 months ago, and Jorgensen cost the club £45m last summer.
Belgium Under-19s international Penders is seen as one of the best teenage goalkeepers around and will officially join the Chelsea fold this summer.
Sanchez had a good final six games to help the team qualify for Champions League and Blues boss Enzo Maresca has not asked for a goalkeeper.
The current recruitment has been led by the club's sporting directors who explored the Maignan opportunity, but only at their right price.
It is also unlikely a deal for Jamie Gittens will be completed before the first arbitrary transfer deadline.
Talks will continue beyond Tuesday with a seven-year deal on the table.
Nevin picks out the best deals so farpublished at 10:05 BST 10 June

The mini transfer window has been interesting with some intriguing stories.
Matheus Cunha to Manchester United seems to make some sense, certainly more that many of their transfer deals in the past few years. At least Cunha has proved he can do it in the Premier League.
Liam Delap had his pick of a few clubs because of his affordable £30 million buyout fee. Well done to the agent who got that written into his contract. Trent Alexander-Arnold is older but still big news. However, I do not think he is the most important deal done in this window thus far.
There was not too much fanfare following Dean Huijsen's £50million move from Bournemouth to Real Madrid but it is hard to imagine any other transferred player having the same long-term impact.
Liverpool might have been tempted by him as the eventual replacement for Virgil van Dijk, but then Huijsen was unlikely to turn down Real, having already elected to represent Spain over his birth nation, the Netherlands.
The 20-year-old is a class act. It is very unusual for such a young centre-back to be so assured and mature. My suspicion has always been that he will be an enduring world star if he steers clear of major injuries.
Trent grabbed much more attention in the short term, but Dean is more likely to be the long-term superstar Galactico in Madrid.
Abramovich hopes for 'proper goodbye'published at 09:09 BST 10 June

Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich says he wants to return to Stamford Bridge for "a proper goodbye", in his first interview since sanctions forced him to sell the club in 2022.
The oligarch, who the UK Government allege has strong links to Russian president Vladimir Putin, has not spoken since the sale of Chelsea and his last known interview was with Forbes in March 2021.
In an interview in Abu Dhabi in February for the book "Sanctioned" by Nick Purewal, Abramovich ruled out re-investing in Chelsea or, indeed, any other football club.
But he said he wants to return to Stamford Bridge someday.
"Perhaps one day there would be a situation where I could attend a match and say a proper goodbye, but nothing more than that," he is quoted as saying.
He added: "I don't have any interest in any role in a football club, certainly not a professional role."
Abramovich also says he still wants a resolution to the war in Ukraine, insisting his efforts to act as a peacekeeper in talks in Turkey in 2022 were genuine.
This is the first time he has spoken since he sold Chelsea for £2.5bn to Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, who have overseen two underwhelming years before finishing fourth this season to qualify for the Champions League and winning the Conference League.
Boehly, who also part-owns successful baseball franchise the LA Dodgers and basketball team the LA Lakers, said in the book: "If you look at our ambitions for the Dodgers and for the Lakers, you're here to win, and it's our business to win; and we're doing everything we can do to win.
"Our goal with Chelsea is also to win silverware, because we know, and I know, how much it means to the fans. It makes you appreciate again that sport makes people happy, especially when you win. And Chelsea is supposed to win.
"But I really believe that sustained success is an investment, and no matter what business I'm in, or any industry, there are no shortcuts."
Meanwhile, Abramovich's comments have emerged just a week after the UK government threatened to sue him, with proceeds from the sale of the club still stuck in a frozen bank account.
'No more signings' and 'no reason to panic' - fan views on deadline daypublished at 08:03 BST 10 June
08:03 BST 10 June
We asked for your views on whether Chelsea needs to have any transfer activity before the first of the two summer transfer windows shuts on Tuesday.
Here are some of your comments:
Gary: I would like to see both Jamie Gittens and Mike Maignan come in, but I don't think it will happen in this window. Chelsea's owners have a track record of dragging their heels when things need wrapping up quickly.
Phil: Has to be Maignan. A top keeper is a priority for any team wanting to challenge for honours.
Jack: No more signings. Signing Liam Delap is great business, and I'm excited to see how he is integrated into the squad, but we don't need multiple signings right now. We've only just escaped the bloated squad syndrome of previous seasons, so let this team grow and evolve together without adding more young players into the mix. Djordje Petrovic seems like a fairly obvious solution to our goalkeeping woes.
Stuart: Given that we can sign players again next week, there is no reason to panic before this 'deadline'. I'd like us to bring in Mohammed Kudus, who has looked good in the Premier League at West Ham, but if we need to wait to get a better deal, then that's fine. Not sure we need Maignan as I'd like to see Petrovic (who I've always rated over Sanchez) given a chance. Obviously got a few to move on, but we can do that throughout the summer.
Jim: Yes, let's get in Gittens and Maignan, and an experienced centre-back, and we will dominate the Club World Cup.
Colin: The Club World Cup should be a good opportunity to get deals done because it's going to be a competition that probably won't come around too often for some to play in. Today will be the day to get the deals done, and then it's off to the USA.
