Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish speaks to BBC Sport: "Unbelievable. This is for everybody. Everybody that has sent me a bit of encouragement when it's been going badly, all the people that stick with you, that believe, this is for them.

"I am so proud of them. Oliver Glasner made us all believe, he came with a different mentality. It's easy to say now but I didn't think they would score."

Former Palace striker Clinton Morrison on BBC Radio 5 Live: "I'm a bit emotional. It's a special time. I know what this club has been through - I was there when they going through administration.

"Palace aren't a big club but they are going to Europe and that might mean they can keep hold of one or two of their gems."

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has been speaking about the Eagles' winning FA Cup performance on BBC One: "They deserve it. Their fans have been sensational right throughout this game and the semi-final. It has been a fantastic atmosphere.

"Crystal Palace deserve it. I thought they were the better team. I know Manchester City put them under pressure possession-wise, but they didn't do enough in front of goal. They didn't do enough to win it or ask enough questions of Crystal Palace.

"When Oliver Glasner's side grew into the game, their confidence just got better. They worked ever so hard, the number of times they had two or three men blocking the ball in desperation and putting their bodies on the line was incredible."

On how Crystal Palace fans will be feeling: "You could see the agony on their faces when they put the 10 minutes of injury time up. All I could see was hands on heads. I just thought: 'I know how you feel, I was there a couple of months ago!'

"This is the year of the underdogs and I love it!"

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has been discussing Crystal Palace's FA Cup win on BBC One: "All of these games are about moments. I think there were big moments in the game that could've changed the result.

"Manchester City could have won it on another day, but Crystal Palace deserved it. They stuck in the game, they stuck to their game-plan, they knew exactly what they needed to do tactically, and they put some top performances in.

"I highlighted Munoz before the game because I think he has got genuine quality, whether it is defending or running back.

"Everything they did today was just sublime.

"You have to manage the occasion and we were questioning whether Crystal Palace could do that before the game but they dealt with it in the semi-final and today, they might have rode their luck at times, but they dealt with it again.

"They attacked when they needed to, they defended when they needed to, they got it spot on with the opportunities they had.

"It is just a momentous day for Oliver Glasner and his players."

    Media caption,

Former Premier League striker Wayne Rooney added: "Incredible. The way they defended, blocking, bodies on the line. Henderson made some good saves. I think they deserved it.

"They stuck in there, they were resilient, hard to beat, hard to play through. Sometimes things are just meant to happen. From the semi-final you got that sense from the fans.

"Henderson's performance was incredible. The handball goes another way on another occasion but he was fantastic. I'm really pleased for him."

Ex-Palace striker Glenn Murray added: "I just think, listen to all the fans, they probably don't believe it now. Eze sank to his knees and he encapsulates everything Palace are - someone who was rejected and came back. Glasner got his tactics right today.

"It makes this summer much easier for Palace. There are people sniffing around the Ezes and Whartons but now they have reason to stay and represent this club in the Europa League."

  4. 'I knew I'd save it' - Hendersonpublished at 18:44 BST 17 May

Crystal Palace's FA Cup hero Dean Henderson speaking to BBC Sport: "It's incredible. We had a feeling it would be our day today."

On his penalty save: "To be fair, Haaland might have stepped up, I wouldn't know what way he would go. Marmoush, I knew what way he was going, I knew I'd save it."

On the possible red card he could have received: "The ball held up, it was a bit dry but it doesn't matter, who cares?

"I lost my dad at the start of the season and I'll miss him today but he was with me every kick of the ball today. I dedicate that win to him."

    Media caption,

Eberechi Eze, who scored the only goal of the game: "It's a special moment. We have come here three times as a club. To show that kind of spirit and energy, only God man.

"I couldn't breathe. They keep the ball so well, you have to work so hard. But we know when we get into the box we have to take the chance. It's not easy."

On his journey from being rejected by clubs in his teenage years: "If I am honest I don't try to forget but you guys keep reminding me of when I was 18. I have come a long way since then. To be in this position now is special, it's hard to use the right words."

  5. 'It is a red card' - Rooney on Hendersonpublished at 17:43 BST 17 May

Former Premier League striker Wayne Rooney commenting on Dean Henderson's use of his hand outside the area in the first half: "It is a red card - 100% a red card.

"Erling Haaland is about to knock it around him and Dean Henderson sweeps the ball away.

"It is a red card - how can they get this wrong?"

Gary Lineker explained: "This is what VAR have said -'The direction in which Erling Haaland was going made it possible, but not an obvious goal scoring opportunity'."

Rooney replied: "Just get rid of VAR. They have made a mistake and now they are trying to cover up. It is a red card and everyone can see it's a red card. To come out with all this rubbish."

Crystal Palace's rise under Oliver Glasner

As Oliver Glasner prepares for a landmark day in Crystal Palace's history, his impact at the club is being scrutinised.

    Since he took the helm:

    • He has the best points per game record of any Palace Premier League manager.

    • Crystal Palace need one more point for their highest ever Premier League points total.

    • Since a winless period in first eight games of this season, Palace would be sixth in the Premier League from their results.

    • Palace are seventh in a league table calculated from his first game in charge last February.

The big day is edging nearer and the nerves are rising.

But who will come out on top when Crystal Palace take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday?

We put some questions to our fan contributors for each team to see how they are feeling before the big game...

  11. Palace 'have the ammunition to beat' Man City - Fan Q&Apublished at 19:19 BST 16 May

Here is what our Crystal Palace supporter had to say on questions put to them before the FA Cup final with Manchester City...

How confident are you that Palace can win the trophy and what would it mean?

Confidence is not a word in the Palace fan vocabulary so we will not be using that term. I think I speak for most fans when I say the nerves are starting to jangle already! This will be our third shot at winning the FA Cup so we are very much hoping that 'lady luck' will be looking down on us this time around.

For Palace to win the FA Cup would mean everything. To have come close on two occasions really does hurt. When you talk to Wigan and Portsmouth fans, to have your name on that famous old trophy means absolutely everything, no matter how the footballing gods have treated them since.

    Who will be your game-changer?

The obvious answer is Eberechi Eze as he is in red-hot form heading into the final, and while he gets all the headlines, this Palace side have a number of players that could be game-changers, including Ismaila Sarr, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Daniel Munoz.

But, I have not mentioned the back-line and they will be key as they have been great this season - even more so since Chris Richards returned to the starting line-up.

Who or what concerns you most about City?

It is Manchester City - outgoing Premier League champions, former Champions League winners who head into the final off the back of their worst season in some time, their star striker is back fit, and they are managed by Pep Guardiola. There is plenty there to concern us, especially as this is their last chance of silverware this campaign.

Palace do have the ammunition to beat this City side and showed some of that in the game at the Etihad a few weeks back, but more than that, the Eagles have a very astute manager. Oliver Glasner is arguably the best manager that has ever taken charge of the club and gives us the best chance of getting a victory.

    Score prediction?

Do we have to? OK, so let's be bold here and go for a 2-1 win for Palace. London will literally be painted red and blue!
