Beck wants to 'repay' Docherty faithpublished at 11:26 31 January

Owen Beck is out to repay the faith shown to him by Dundee manager Tony Docherty after making his first appearance since re-joining the club.
The Liverpool defender had experienced disappointing loan spells at Bolton Wanderers and Portuguese side Famalicao last term, before lighting up in the Scottish Premiership in the first half of this campaign.
After being recalled to the Anfield club - who were enduring somewhat of an in injury crisis - Beck's determination to get minutes under his belt led to a Dens Park return.
"I am made up," he told BBC Scotland. "I think after the first half of the season, I am just excited to be back playing games, and I just want to say thank you to the Dundee fans for tonight because the reception I got was exceptional.
"I am 21, it is all about for me, right now, playing in competitive games. I saw it as an opportunity again to come out and try and replicate what I did in the first half of the season. I am happy to be back.
"It was one of them, the gaffer - when I first came - he put his trust in me after the season I had before. I had two loans that didn’t go to plan. The gaffer and the assistant put their trust in me, I want to repay them as well."
The 21-year-old was handed a Premier League debut earlier this month when he came off the bench in Liverpool's comfortable win at Bournemouth.
Beck says boss Jurgen Klopp was impressed by his showings in Scotland and wanted him to continue his development with Dundee.
"We had a chat and he said from the first half of the season I have made big steps and I am progressing there, so I think the situation I was in, it was a bit of no brainer to come back and keep progressing in my career."

Dundee manager Tony Docherty: "I was really pleased with the second half performance. I felt we really missed an opportunity, we had so many chances to really grab the game and we didn't do that.
"We changed things at half time and I was really proud of the performance in the second half.
"It would have been the cherry on the cake if Owen Beck finishes that one but our second half performance probably merited a win.
"Coming to Pittodrie and picking up a point is not a bad result but I am a bit greedy. I am always looking for the ultimate reward for that and I think the players deserve it."

Dundee looked like the side that deserved all three points and will undoubtedly be disappointed not to have bagged the win - particularly having conceded from a penalty kick.
After heading back to Liverpool and then returning north, Owen Beck didn't look particularly phased by all the noise surrounding his future. Although on another day he may have buried his late chance, Beck still played a massive part in the win.
In the second half Dundee certainly looked like a side that wanted to win the game, despite being a goal down, and the hard work paid off when Lee Ashcroft headed home from Beck's corner.

Malachi Boateng has warned against complacency as Dundee come up against an out-of-form Aberdeen side.
The Crystal Palace loanee says the under-pressure Dons still carry threats, while his side should focus on themselves heading into the Pittodrie clash.
"Unfortunately we haven't played them yet this season because of the cancellations.
"We're expecting a team that are good on the counter attack. They're obviously struggling at the moment, but we've got to be aware of their qualities and be on our game. We're just focusing on ourselves really. That's all we can control.
"It's been a good start and a good first half of the season, but we want to keep going and keep pushing. We have our targets so we don't want to get complacent."

Docherty 'absolutely delighted' to have Beck back published at 13:15 30 January

Tony Docherty says he acted quickly to get Owen Beck back to Dundee after sensing the opportunity for a second loan move.
With Scotland captain Andy Robertson returning for Liverpool in their 5-2 FA Cup win over Norwich City on Sunday, the Premier League leaders' depleted options at left-back were boosted.
This cleared the way for Beck, 21, to travel north and complete another switch to Dundee after endearing himself to supporters in the first half of the season.
“I am absolutely delighted that Owen is back with us," Docherty told DeeTV.
"It came to our attention on Sunday after the Liverpool game when Andy Robertson came on and with [Kostas] Tsimikas returning from injury, there might be a possibility that Owen might return to us.
"He’s made such a positive impact in the first half of the season both on and off the pitch. When we got confirmation from Liverpool yesterday that he could come back to Dundee everyone at the club was so excited, the coaches, the players, and all the other staff at the club.
"I know the fans will be overjoyed that Owen is back as they loved watching him play in the dark blue of Dundee. We are just looking forward to getting Owen back to what Owen is.
"He is a brilliant boy, a fantastic member of a really good squad and everyone is really looking forward to having him back."
Beck 'over the moon' to seal Dundee return published at 12:39 30 January

Guess who's Beck.
Liverpool defender Owen Beck has returned to Dundee on a loan deal that will keep him at Dens Park until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old starred in the first half of the campaign, but was recalled to the Premier League leaders after injuries to Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.
There were reports of interest from other clubs in Scotland, but once Jurgen Klopp fielded the left-back off the bench in his side's thumping of Bournemouth, Dundee became the only other club Beck could feature for this season.
The defender travelled north on Monday and was greeted by supporters at the club's training ground, before the paperwork was finalised on Tuesday to seal the youngster's second spell with Tony Docherty's side.
Beck told DeeTV: “I am made up to be back, after the first half of the season that we both had together. I now just can’t wait to get back out there and perform in front of the fans again.
"I am over the moon to be back. I just want to thank the Dundee fans for their support in the first half of the season, even when you found out I got recalled you were fantastic with me, but I am back again, so let’s get to work again.”
'Beck return a massive coup for Dundee' published at 09:21 30 January
Let's not dwell on the Hearts match. A game that saw us 2-0 up at half time and strolling, only to capitulate in the second 45 and end up the losing team in a 3-2 defeat.
No, let's move away from that and instead, let's talk about the demolition job we did to relegation certs Livingston on their home patch on Saturday.
With some injuries piling up, Tony Docherty delved into the squad to replace the casualties, while also affording some players a break and others a platform to shine.
You don't normally get the chance to do so in this ruthless league, but at the weekend, I was certain we would win the match and a chance to give boys a breather was fully justified.
Before we start heaping praise on one of our new arrivals, can we talk about the state of the referees and VAR yet again?
Livi were awarded two penalties. Both were soft and if one looked more like a penalty than the other, that being their first shout with the initial contacted being made just in the box.
Was it a penalty though? Not for me.
The second. Deary me. I will argue until I'm blue in the face but our left-back Dodgson got his foot on the ball first and for people saying he went in behind the players, I'd argue otherwise and say he made the tackle more to the side. It was an excellent tackle.
So, on came our new loan signing Michael Mellon. With 15 goals to his name while on loan to Morecambe in the first half of the season, big things are expected from him. And oh boy, did we see big things.
In the space of 28 minutes, he set up two goals and scored one to bring the points back up to Dundee. Some debut.
He really looks like the missing part we needed up top and his link-up play with our midfield was also impressive.
Will he be the one to put the ball into the net for the Dee until the end of the season? I'd say it seems likely.
At the time of writing this, Owen Beck is back in Dundee and finalising his paperwork to yet again, become a Dundee player.
He's easily the best left-back in the league and we can only thank Jurgen Klopp for playing him for those eight minutes against Bournemouth so he would either be tied to us or Liverpool for the remainder of the season.
The fact he wanted and asked to come back to Scotland to play for us is a massive coup for this club and he will instantly make us a better team.
Beck will more than likely be in the squad when we take on struggling Aberdeen on Tuesday night and it will be a great sight and sense of relief to see him once again wear dark blue.

Dundee will have Owen Beck back for the second half of the season, with the Liverpool left-back expected to complete another loan deal.
The Wales Under-21 international spent the first half of the campaign at Dens Park, making 20 appearances and scoring twice.
Beck, 21, arrived at Dundee's training ground on Monday and was greeted by supporters.
While back at Liverpool, Beck featured as a late substitute in the recent Premier League win over Bournemouth.
Dundee manager Tony Docherty said earlier on Monday: "Obviously there's only two teams he can play for - it's either Liverpool or Dundee. I would love it if it was Dundee because you know the effect Owen Beck had on the club and the fans.
"If we had any opportunity to get Owen back we would jump at the chance because he was such a pivotal player for us in the first period of the season."

Tony Docherty admits he would "love" for Owen Beck to return to Dundee, but says any potential deal lies in the hands of his parent club.
Having come off the bench for Liverpool in their win over Bournemouth last weekend, the left-back can't join a new club this season as it would exceed the limit of two teams per campaign.
That does mean that the only place Beck could head on loan is Dens Park, and with Andy Robertson making his return for the Premier League leaders on Sunday, their options in that position were boosted.
Asked if the 21-year-old could head north this month, Docherty said: "There's no update on that. The facts of that are there are only two teams he can play for, Liverpool or Dundee. I would love it if it was Dundee.
"You know the effect that Owen Beck's had on everbody, not just the football club but within the stadium and the fans.
"If we had any chance to get Owen back we would jump at the chance because he was such a pivotal player for us in the first part of the season.
"If we get the chance to work with him again, it'd be great. It's down to his parent club at the moment and we'll just have to watch this space."

Dundee manager Tony Docherty has been speaking to the media ahead of his side's trip to Pittodrie on Tuesday.
Here are the key points...
"Delighted" with the response he got from his side in the win over Livingston after throwing away a two-goal lead against Hearts a few days prior.
Michael Mellon's incredible performance off the bench "didn't surprise" Docherty, and it showed why they worked so hard to bring him to Dens Park.
Talks up Aberdeen as a "really good team" who can be "dangerous". Says Barry Robson will deal with the pressure on him, praising his side's run to the League Cup final and their European performances.
No update on Owen Beck, but reaffirms that he would "love" to have him back if Liverpool choose to him out. Not expecting other arrivals before Thursday's deadline "at the moment".
Trevor Carson is back in the squad for tomorrow, but praises Harry Sharp for his showing on Sunday. Ryan Howley will miss out through injury. Charlie Reilly also has a "slight knock".
