Kelly couldn't have dreamed of a Rangers return published at 15:45 27 June
15:45 27 June
Liam Kelly says he could not have comprehended his return to Rangers after a six-year spell away from the Ibrox club.
The 28-year-old Rangers academy graduate departed in 2018 before permanent stints at Livingston, Queens Park Rangers and Motherwell.
Kelly, who has now signed a two-year deal at Ibrox after leaving Motherwell, said: "It is unbelievable to be back at Rangers.
"When I left, I probably never thought I would be back, but I am so delighted to be here. I know the size of the club, I spent 14 years here, so it is a great feeling, and I am looking forward to the new challenge.
“You always have faith in your own ability that you can play at the top level and this club is the highest level.
"I am joining a really talented group of players and a really talented group of goalkeepers, so I am excited.”
Manager Philippe Clement believes the Scotland international will bolster Rangers' squad as they look to go one better in the title race next term.
“I am delighted we have been able to secure the signing of Liam," the Belgian said.
"We have had some really positive conversations, and he is a goalkeeper with experience in Scotland and in the Scottish Premiership which will be valuable for our squad."
Balogun urges 'mentality shift' from Rangers squadpublished at 15:01 27 June
15:01 27 June
Leon Balogun says Rangers need a "shift in mentality" if they are to wrestle the title back from Celtic in the new season.
Philippe Clement's side faltered in the final months of last term to finish eight points adrift as Celtic won a third successive title.
Rangers kick off the 2024-25 campaign away to Hearts and defender Balogun, who has signed a one-year deal to stay at Ibrox, told Sky Sports: "We need to have a shift in mentality and build more confidence.
"We need to build that through pre-season, but that's a process that we need to work on every day by reputation mainly and gaining confidence in what you do.
"Under the manager we've seen what he was able to do in a very short period of time.
"Given he now has a full pre-season to work with us to implement his ideas, that's one factor. Apart from that, it's what we're about every year and the quality in the team.
"It's about ticking a few boxes and working on a few weak spots that we had last season and make sure they go away."
Balogun, 35, regards the opener Tynecastle as an ideal tester for the Ibrox squad.
"Hearts are normally one of the stronger teams in the league so I think it's the perfect start to see where we're at," he added.
"We have something to make up for and we want to have a good start to the season."

Key info before SPFL fixture releasepublished at 12:23 26 June
12:23 26 June
The 2024-25 SPFL schedule will be unveiled at 09:00 BST on Thursday, and we've got all the information you need before the return of domestic football.
The action in all four leagues kicks off on the weekend of 3 August.
Eight months later, the Premiership split happens on the weekend of 12 and 13 April and the top-flight season concludes on the weekend of 17 and 18 May.
And while it might be too painful to be thinking about the national team, there are international periods in September, October, November and March to bear in mind.
There will not, however, be a winter break this season.
The expansion of Uefa's club competitions - with the new league phase of the Champions League and Europa League running until the end of January - is the reason for that.
The SPFL said the format change "exerts additional pressure on the domestic calendar" and means no mid-season trips to the sunshine for Premiership clubs.
