One team that hasn't been cautious with its one-off livery is Racing Bulls. A full Miami makeover has been achieved by making the car a vibrant shade of pink, which is to promote a certain energy drink's new flavour for the summer.

Sauber have also jumped on the livery change this weekend, updating their normal green design to pay tribute to the coastal city's art scene.

    News hot off the press.

Formula 1 has announced a huge contract extension for the Miami Grand Prix to stay on the calendar until 2041.

Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali said the 10-year extension will strengthen the sport's presence in the United States, and "consolidates the ever-deepening bond with our fan base there".

When I say mixed, what I really mean is the majority of the reaction has been negative.

"Is this a joke?", "so bad" and "this is the equivalent of putting pineapple on a pizza" are just some of the comments left by fans.

Ferrari are showcasing a special co-designed livery to mark the first year of their title partnership with HP in Miami this weekend.

The Italian team have put Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in blue and white race suits - not a hint of red in sight. But the car? Hmmm.

Max Verstappen was missing for Thursday's media duties because he and his partner Kelly Piquet were preparing to welcome their first child together.

On Friday, the four-time world champion proudly showed off his new baby, a girl called Lily, and posted on Instagram: "Our hearts are fuller than ever - you are our greatest gift. We love you so much."

Verstappen joins Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg in the F1 dads club and he has made it to Miami, so we'll see him in the car shortly.

Hello, folks. The Miami Grand Prix always attracts the biggest names in sport and entertainment (and famous F1 dogs), so can the 305 put on a spectacular show this weekend? We have got a new championship leader taking to the track, so... maybe?!

Round six also hosts the second of six sprint events this year, so an extra couple of points will come in very handy.

The one and only practice session of the weekend starts at 17:30 BST.

Qualifying to set the grid for tomorrow's sprint race gets under way at 21:30 BST.

Oscar Piastri ended the first triple-header of the season with two wins under his belt - Bahrain and Saudi Arabia - and enough points to his name to overtake team-mate Lando Norris in the title race.

After a gruelling run of five races in six weeks, Formula 1 has arrived stateside for the first of three races in the United States. The Miami Grand Prix a year ago was the scene of Norris' maiden win in the sport - a victory he took from fifth on the grid, with a little help from a well-timed safety car.

Fast forward 12 months and now Australian Piastri is leading the field by 10 points, his confidence in the McLaren a lot higher than Briton Norris.

With the margins so tight at the top, will we see the championship flip once again after 57 laps of racing on the Sunshine State? Oh, and a 100km sprint race...
