  1. 'Norris needs ten points at least this race'published at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 Live

Lando Norris has to be taking points, from a race where he starts on pole and Verstappen is 17th, it had to be ten points at least.

If Norris doesn't do that this weekend, let alone Verstappen adding points to him, then it's Verstappen's title, not mathematically but there will be nothing more that McLaren can really do beyond sheer luck in the last three races.

The marshals came over to the German and pushed the car back towards the track.

    Andrew Benson
    BBC F1 correspondent

Let's take a moment to appreciate the overall quality of Verstappen and Red Bull's performance today. Verstappen absolutely out of this world from 17th on the grid, making up so many places so quickly.

The tyres will be changed and it's a complete re-start, we are not even halfway through the 69 laps we are scheduled to have.

  8. red flag

Russell ragepublished at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

    Lap 33/69

Naughty George. The Mercedes driver dropped a few fruity words on the team radio when he was told the red flag had been brought out for Franco Colapinto's crash.

"I said it!!" cried Russell (after his swears). "We should've stayed out!!"

If it were to end like this in terms of the points and we get a full race, Alpine would jump up to sixth in the constructors' championship, whereas Williams would fall down to ninth.

  10. red flag

Oscar Piastri collision was with the RB of Liam Lawson. The two McLaren clipping the side of the New Zealander, sending him off the track. Piastri has just been to visit Lawson now that everyone is out of the car to say sorry.

  11. 'Paid off massively for Ocon and Verstappen'published at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 Live

Now Ocon is a legitimate race winner and Verstappen is in second and they have a free pit-stop to change tyres, they can put whatever they want on when this race gets resumed. It's paid off massively.

  12. red flag

Colapinto outpublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

    Lap 33/69

"I guess everyone can just change tyres for free now?" asks Lando Norris. "They can," is the reply from the pit wall.

More admin to alert you to: Mercedes are under investigation for adjusting tyre pressure before the restart.

  13. 'It's all down to the flags'published at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 Live

Whilst Ocon, Verstappen and Gasly have taken a big gain, if the race is red flagged right now, they could put on new tyres for free and that is a legitimate position.

If it's not, the whole rest of the field is going to close up and if they need to make a pit-stop for fresh tyres they are going to fall right to the back. It's all down to the flags.

  14. red flag

Red flagpublished at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

Franco Colapinto climbs out of the Williams and looks to be OK. The car is badly crunched on the left hand side. It's been a busy day for the mechanics.

The Williams of Franco Colapinto has crashed! The red flag is out - again!

  16. Ocon leads from Verstappenpublished at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

    Lap 31/69

The visibility is terrible at certain parts of the track. Esteban Ocon, with one race win in his career, is leading this Sao Paulo Grand Prix ahead of Max Verstappen and his team-mate Pierre Gasly.

Ocon is told the rain is decreasing in one to two minutes.

Oscar Piastri has also picked up a 10-second penalty for causing a collision, but I don't think we saw that on the telly?

This has paid off wonderfully for Max Verstappen, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. Alpine and Red Bull have called this perfectly.

Within a lap it's almost like a monsoon on the track, can these intermediates tyres continue to clear the water at this stage?
