Kieran McGeeney has said that he "knows nothing" about a reported approach to him to become part of the Armagh football management team.

There has been speculation that he is set to link up with current Orchard County boss Paul Grimley.

"I know nothing about this. I am unaware of any approach from Armagh county board," McGeeney told BBC Sport on Tuesday.

Grimley previously worked as McGeeney's assistant boss in Kildare.

Former Armagh captain McGeeney lost the Kildare job in controversial circumstances earlier this month following a vote by the county's clubs.

McGeeney's six-year Lilywhites tenure ended as he was voted out on a 29-28 at a dramatic county board meeting.

Kildare's players reacted by releasing a statement calling for McGeeney's return to the job but nearly two weeks on, it appears definite that the Armagh man will not be managing the Leinster county in 2014.
