- Published
Monaghan hammered Meath in Sunday's Division Two clash thanks to a superb first-half display at Clones.
A blistering start set the tone with Conor McManus slotting over fives first-half points while Jack McCarron added three.
The hosts led 0-13 to 0-1 at the break and McCarron saw his penalty saved by Paddy O'Rourke after he was fouled.
Monaghan keeper Rory Beggan scored three 45s as Malachy O'Rourke's side eased to a first win of the campaign.
McManus fired over the opening three points while McCarron scored the fourth as Monaghan began a half of brilliant football.
Chris McGuinness and Thomas Kerr both rattled over two points in a one-sided contest with 12 points between the sides at half-time.
Farney keeper Beggan got in on the action with his three long-range scores and McCarron's penalty miss was the only blemish.
McMannus and McCarron tagged on another two points each Meath gave more respectability to the scoreline with seven second-half points.
The win leaves Monaghan second in the standings and just a point behind Ulster rivals Donegal.
