Hurling League: Antrim 1-11 0-15 Wexford
- Published
Wexford clung on at the death to overcome Antrim 0-15 to 1-11 in the Hurling League Division 1B opener.
Antrim led 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time in Ballycastle against a Wexford team reduced to 14 men after Richie Kehoe was red-carded.
However, Wexford moved into a seven-point lead with just five minutes left.
Antrim launched a late comeback with Daniel McKernan netting and Paul Shiels missed a late free which would have salvaged a draw for the Saffrons.
Kehoe was dismissed after lashing out at Antrim forward Neil McManus.
Trailing by five points with two minutes of normal time remaining, Antrim registered 1-1 without reply.
The Saffrons continued to pile on the pressure, and two minutes into injury-time Kevin Ryan's charges had a chance to tie the contest.
However, Shiels missed a free and Wexford's long journey to the Glens finished in a one-point win.
Elsewhere, Derry were beaten 4-24 to 3-9 by Kerry in Division 2A while Down eased to a 2-20 to 1-7 victory over Ulster derby rivals Armagh in Division 2B.
There was also MacRory Cup quarter-final action on Sunday, with Thomas Galligan's injury-time goal giving St Patrick's Cavan a 1-10 to 0-10 win over St Michael's Enniskillen.
Antrim: C O'Connell, Ciaran Johnston, C McKinley, Ml Bradley, S McCrory, N McAuley, O McFadden, P Shiels, J McGreevy, D Hamill, C Carson, Niall McKenna, D McKernan, N McManus, C Clarke.
