All-Ireland qualifiers: Tyrone to play Armagh on Sunday

Tyrone's last meeting with Armagh was in the 2014 McKenna Cup

Armagh's All-Ireland qualifier against neighbours and fierce rivals Tyrone is to take place on Sunday, 13 July at Healy Park in Omagh at 15:00 BST.

Both counties were knocked out of this season's Ulster Championship by holders Monaghan, Armagh losing by five points in Sunday's semi-final replay.

Down face Kildare on the same day and the throw-in at Newry is 14:00.

Cavan, who scraped past Westmeath in the last round, host Roscommon on Saturday with an 18:00 throw-in.

Last time out against Tyrone, Armagh were humbled 5-16 to 0-7, but that was in the pre-season McKenna Cup tournament - not in the heat of Championship battle.

Orchard County boss Paul Grimley will be looking for an improved display following the disappointing Ulster Championship exit at the hands of Monaghan.

Armagh took an early lead at Clones but Monaghan were on top for most of the game and won by 1-18 to 1-13.

Tyrone have already come through one round in the qualifiers, hammering Louth by 2-21 to 0-10.

James McCartan's Down were also emphatic first-round winners, chalking up an easy 4-18 to 0-9 victory over Leitrim in Newry.
