Scott Jamieson thrilled by debut season on European Tour

Jamieson won three points from four outings at the Seve Trophy

An excellent showing in the Seve Trophy has given Scott Jamieson further confidence in what has been a fabulous debut season on the European Tour.

The 27-year-old Scot contributed three points from four matches in a 15.5-12.5 win for Great Britain & Ireland.

"It was great fun and hopefully it will spur me on to bigger and better things," Jamieson told BBC Scotland.

"It's another stepping stone for me and it gives me an even greater sense that this is where I belong."

Two years ago the Glaswegian was plying his trade on the third level EuroPro Tour but he has shot up the rankings in spectacular style.

During the Seve Trophy in Paris last week, he successfully partnered world number two Lee Westwood in the greensomes, having won one and lost one in the fourball format with Ross Fisher.

And Jamieson finished a memorable tournament at St-Nom-La-Breteche with a one-hole singles win over Pablo Larrazabal.

"It's probably the biggest thing I've played in," he explained.

"To be there with so many guys with Ryder Cup experience was a bit surreal at first but it was a great experience.

"There's a long way to go before I can start thinking about the Ryder Cup but it definitely gives you a flavour of it."

Jamieson has earned close to 500,000 euros from 24 Tour events, his biggest cheque coming for a third place finish at the Scottish Open, which also secured the last qualifying place for the Open at Royal St George's.

He also finished third at the BMW International Open and the Open de España and sits 39th in the Race to Dubai standings.

That lofty position has Jamieson in a good position for the Tour's rookie of the year award.

"It was one of my goals at the start of the year," he said of the rookie prize.

"And I've given myself a great opportunity."

"It's not something I have complete control over, obviously. If one of the other contenders was to go out and win a couple of tournaments they would probably win it."
