Graeme McDowell progresses to last 16 at World Match Play

Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell beat Stephen Gallacher 4&2 to set up a last-16 clash with Bo van Pelt at the World Match Play Championship in Bulgaria.

McDowell took charge of Friday's match early on as he moved four up after eight and he remained in control on the back nine.

Shane Lowry also progressed to the last 16 as he won a play-off against Peter Hanson and George Coetzee.

Lowry's earned the play-off spot by beating Hanson by four holes.

Hanson, Shane Lowry and George Coetzee all finished on two points after Lowry's win with the South African then bowing out at the second extra hole with a bogey four.

Lowry's birdie at the next then meant he won the group to set up a clash with Thomas Aiken.

American van Pelt secured his last-16 spot after halved matches against Richard Sterne and Geoff Ogilvy earned him second place in his group.
