Jersey Matchplay Championships: Jenny Deeley wins 12th title

Jenny Deeley won the Jersey Ladies Matchplay Championships for the 12th time, beating Frances Shaw 5 & 4 in the final at Les Mielles.

Experienced La Moye player Deeley was already five up going into the afternoon session of the 36-hole final.

She will now go on to face her Guernsey counterpart for the Channel Island Championship title in June.

"Jenny's playing very well and is on form," said Jersey Ladies Golf Association president Trish Parkin.

"She's a very steady player and not a lot fazes her, she gets on with the job.

"Jenny was just too strong for her [Shaw]."

Meanwhile, Les Mielles' Jane Lansdell won Division Two and La Moye's Christine Mee clinched the Division Three tournament.
