Graeme McDowell lies eight shots off the pace in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am after firing a level-par-par 71 in Friday's second round.

The Portrush man, playing alongside his father Kenny on the Monterey Peninsula course, carded two birdies and two bogeys to remain one under.

McDowell will play at Pebble Beach, scene of his US Open triumph in 2010, in the third round.

Americans Jimmy Walker and Jordan Spieth share the lead.

Padraig Harrington (69) is three under and Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley (76) one under after both played at Spyglass Hill.

McDowell, who started at the 10th, picked up shots at 15 and 16 before slipping back with bogeys at one and four.

The cut will come after the third round when the field has played all three courses, with the final round at Pebble Beach.
