Charley Hull celebrates her Lalla Meryem Cup victory in Morocco

England's Charley Hull claimed her first Ladies European Tour title by beating France's Gwladys Nocera in a play-off for the Lalla Meryem Cup.

Hull, who celebrates her 18th birthday on Thursday, carded a stunning closing round of 62 to come from five strokes behind to tie on 15 under par.

The teenager then holed from four feet for birdie on the first extra hole to clinch victory over Nocera in Morocco.

"I never backed down and I got there. I'm really happy," Hull added.

The Solheim Cup star carded four birdies and an eagle to cover the front nine in just 30 strokes before picking up further shots on the 11th, 16th and 17th.

She missed a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th, but Nocera then three-putted the same hole for her only bogey of the day in a closing 67 to take the tournament into a play-off.

Kettering-based Hull said: "I shot nine under today which is pretty good and I thought I had it on the last. It just missed and then making birdie in the play-off to win it, my hands were shaking like mad.

"I got my first win while I'm still 17, I'm 18 next week, so I'm really happy."

The win capped a sensational 12 months for Hull, who started her professional career at the same event in Morocco last year when she secured the first of five consecutive runners-up finishes.
