WGC-Cadillac Championship: JB Holmes hits hole-in-one in Miami

Holmes is seeking his fourth career PGA Tour title

American JB Holmes hit a hole-in-one at the par-three fourth as he built up a five-shot lead going into the final round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

It was the second hole-in-one in quick succession with compatriot Dustin Johnson, who lies second, having aced the same hole shortly before in Miami.

Holmes, who led by two overnight, added four late birdies to reach 11 under.

Johnson and Bubba Watson are tied at six under, while Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy is well back on one under.

After a second round where he threw his three iron into a lake by the fifth, the world number one managed to keep his temper in check on Saturday, carding a 72.

A scuba diver had to retrieve McIlroy's discarded club and could be required again after Germany's Marcel Siem reacted to a double bogey during his third round by launching his three iron into the same stretch of water, nicknamed the 'Blue Monster'.

Playing partner Jason Day was overheard saying to his caddie: "He's just done a Rory."

Holmes, 32, opened with a bogey and, after his ace at the fourth, he also dropped shots at the seventh and the 12th.

His lead was down to one shot when Johnson converted a birdie chance on the 16th.

But moments later on the 14th hole Holmes holed a 12-footer for a birdie - the start of four in a row - and despite a bogey at the last hole he finished with a 70 to lie 11 under par after 54 holes.

Reigning Masters champion Watson ended with a birdie for a 70 while Johnson finished with a 69 after dropping a shot at the 18th - the pair are both on six under.
