Gavin Moynihan, a member of the winning Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team, is to make his professional debut at this week's Italian Open.
The 20-year-old two-time Irish Amateur champion contributed two points to the 16½-9½ victory over the USA at Royal Lytham & St Annes at the weekend.
"It is a very exciting time for me and I just can't wait to get started in Italy," said the Dubliner.
"I have known for some time I would turn pro after the Walker Cup."
Moynihan has joined Chubby Chandler's ISM management company.
