Durham teenager Amy Tinkler and former champion Dan Purvis won the women's and men's all-around titles at the British Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool.
Tinkler, 15, edged out quadruple Commonwealth champion Claudia Fragapane despite competing in her first senior national championships.
Purvis regained the title he last won in 2012, beating fellow Scot Frank Baines into second place.
Olympic silver medallist Louis Smith won the pommel horse event.
Smith's triumph strengthens his case for inclusion in the European Championships team, after reversing his decision to quit gymnastics following the London Games in 2012.
Four women and six men will be selected next week by British Gymnastics to compete at the European Gymnastics Championships in Montpellier.
"I didn't expect it at all," Tinkler, who won the English title earlier this month, told BBC Sport. "I'm still in shock.
"I was just hoping to have a clean competition and get in the top 10. To win is amazing. I was junior British champion last year so to do the same in the seniors, I'm really happy.
"I'd love to do a major senior international because I haven't had the chance to do that yet."
Purvis said: "I'm over the moon. The last few years have been a battle, with Max Whitlock being second best in the world.
"To get the title back this year has been fantastic - and in a home arena as well."
