Great Britain's women lost 2-1 to Argentina in a shootout in their first match of the new FIH Pro League season.
Agustina Albertario and Victoria Manuele secured a shootout victory for Argentina after the match finished 0-0.
Sophie Hamilton scored for Great Britain but Argentina keeper Clara Barberi saved their last three penalties to keep them at bay.
Great Britain's men were later beaten 2-1 by hosts Argentina in Santiago del Estero.
Agustin Mazzilli opened the scoring for Argentina in the first quarter and Tomas Domene doubled their lead after 41 minutes.
Britain's Sam Ward scored a fine consolation goal in the closing stages as Argentina took all three points.
Both GB men's and women's sides are in action against the Netherlands on Thursday.
