Paul Hanagan wins the Coral-Eclipse on Mukhadram after a third-placed finish last year

Paul Hanagan rode Mukhadram to victory in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

The five-year-old (14-1) pulled clear in the final two furlongs to beat last year's Irish Derby winner Trading Leather (12-1) into second, with 100-1 outsider Somewhat third.

Derby runner-up Kingston Hill, ridden by Frankie Dettori, finished fourth, with Royal Ascot winner and 5-2 favourite The Fugue in sixth.

"We went a nice gallop and it just suited perfectly," said Hanagan.

"If there is a horse that deserves that, it's him. He's been second in the Dubai World Cup and could have been second in this last year.

"Everyone at the yard has done a fantastic job. I'm chuffed to bits."
