Prix de Diane: Frankie Dettori wins French Oaks on Star of Seville
- Published
Frankie Dettori has followed-up his Epsom Derby win with victory in the Prix de Diane (French Oaks) on Star of Seville.
The filly kicked clear with two furlongs to go and held off the challenge of Physiocrate at Chantilly.
Eight days ago Dettori, 44, won the 236th running of the Derby on Golden Horn.
Star Of Seville is owned by Lady Bamford and trained by John Gosden, who also saddles Golden Horn.
Dettori had been without a Classic win since 2011 prior to these victories.

"Classics are currently like buses for Dettori: none for four years and then two come along in eight days with Golden Horn in the Derby and now Star of Seville. |
"His latest boost following some pretty tortuous times comes at a timely moment just before Royal Ascot. |
"The effort of Star of Seville, beautifully ridden, was all the more creditable coming as it did only just over a week after she finished a well-beaten ninth in the Oaks at Epsom, but she was distinctly luckless that day." |
