Gold Cup winning jockey Bryan Cooper was taken to hospital with a partially collapsed lung after a fall at the Galway Festival.

Cooper, 23, who won this year's Gold Cup on Don Cossack, fell from Tiger Roll in the Guinness Harp Novice Chase.

Turf Club medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick said: "At the moment he has a partially collapsed lung and we are awaiting a scan report.

"If that is the extent of his injury he'll be a very lucky fellow."
