Hayley Turner had 763 winners in her 15-year career before retiring in November

Hayley Turner, Britain's leading female jockey, won on Early Morning after coming out of retirement to ride in the Shergar Cup at Ascot.

Despite Turner's win, the 'Girls' team - who took the title last year - finished third as male riders from the Rest of the World team triumphed.

Turner, 33, returned for the event after a spate of injuries in the team.

Italian Frankie Dettori, 45, failed to get the two wins he needed to reach 3,000 in his career.

The Great Britain and Ireland team were last in the four-team competition, with French jockey Thierry Jarnet winning the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle for leading rider after helping secure victory for the Rest of the World.

Final scores: Rest of the World 68, Europe 65, Girls 54, GB & Ireland 53.
