Leading trainer Milton Harris has been suspended by the British Horseracing Authority until next year.

The 64-year-old Englishman is accused of a breach of the conditions of his licence, although further details have not been released.

Two of his horses were withdrawn from Ludlow on Thursday after the BHA ruled they were "not qualified" to run.

Harris is currently third in this season's jump trainers' championship with 33 winners.

Harris, who trains at Sutton Veny, Wiltshire, has said he has no idea of the issue.

A BHA statement on Saturday said: "Following a hearing before the chairperson of the independent judicial panel of the BHA, Mr Harris' licence has been suspended pending a licensing committee hearing in January. This is as a result of a breach of the conditions on his licence and related matters."

He is in his second spell as a trainer after declaring bankruptcy in 2011, and won the Silver Trophy at Chepstow last month with Pyramid Place.

Harris has an unusual background for a trainer - growing up in a council flat and going on to work as a bartender on cruise ships.
