Ffos Las will host the Grade 2 Towton Novices' Chase on Saturday after poor weather conditions forced a switch from Wetherby.

Saturday's meeting will include Ffos Las' second-richest race of the season after it agreed to host the eight-race meeting at short notice.

The £40,000 prize pot means the two-mile race will be the most valuable Ffos Las stages this season after the £50,000 Welsh Champion Hurdle ran back in October.

Racing across the UK has been severely hit by heavy rain, snow and freezing temperatures with a number of cancellations.

The going at Ffos Las in Carmarthenshire is officially described as soft, but the overnight weather forecast is favourable and it is expected racing will go ahead.

There will be a final course inspection on Saturday at 07:30 GMT.

In a statement, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) said: "The track at Ffos Las is currently raceable and offered the most realistic opportunity to get a jumps fixture on, with the latest forecast giving the card every chance of going ahead.

"While we are aware that there remains an element of risk that adverse weather may result in these conditions changing, we feel it is important to put an opportunity in place to help provide jump racing for participants and customers on Saturday afternoon."
