Guildford Flames hosted Cardiff Devils on Sunday in a Challenge Cup dead rubber that had pride at stake but little else with both sides already eliminated.
Devils came into the game on the back of their 3-2 win over Manchester Storm the previous day, a result that saw them third in the Elite League standings, while Flames had lost 5-2 at Dundee Stars on Friday.
The game was decided by a goal from Riley Brandt, who struck for Devils at the end of the first period, with Kohen Olischefski and Josh MacDonald providing the assist.
Devils' next game is in the Elite League at home to Belfast Giants on Friday, 7 November, while Guildford go to Coventry Blaze two days before on Guy Fawkes Night.
