    Manager David Moyes appears open to the idea of David de Gea being awarded a new contract at Manchester United. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has two years left on his current deal and, according to Press Association Sport, Moyes gave a positive response when asked if he thought the club would be extending that contract.

    "The club are always going to keep their best players," says the United manager. "The club will always look to keep the players who they feel they need to."

    The German Football Association announces plans on their website, external to build a new base in Frankfurt to include a headquarters and training centres for all national teams costing £51m. They expect to move in sometime in 2018.

    Germany manager Joachim Low says: "I know from talks with my colleagues in England and France how much the senior teams benefit from a central academy. I see this centre as an emotional home of German national teams, a location that unites and strengthens the identification among the various teams."

    Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert says striker Gabby Agbonlahor and midfielder Karim El Ahmadi are fit to face Stoke. Agbonlahor came off during last weekend's 1-0 victory over league leaders Chelsea after picking up a calf injury, while El Ahmadi was on the receiving end of a rash challenge from Ramires which led to the Brazilian midfielder being sent off.

    "Karim is fine and he is ready to play the game," adds Lambert. "He is ready for the Stoke game and if he is picked he will be fine. Gabby is fine too, everybody is ok."

    Former Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan on the task facing his old club against Bayern Munich: "Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola will be seeing this as a difficult tie.

    India beat Pakistan by seven wickets in their opening World Twenty20 match in Mirpur after chasing down 131 with nine balls to spare. India had a little wobble after going from 54-0 to 65-3 but Virat Kolhi's unbeaten 36 from 32 balls and 35 not out from Suresh Raina saw them home in the penultimate over.

    As the country awaits the unveiling of England's World Cup song, Gosport punk band Night of Treason have recorded their backing for the town's football club as it prepares for the biggest game in its history.

    The group have produced a song to mark Gosport Borough's FA Trophy final appearance - non-League's equivalent to the FA Cup - against Cambridge United on Sunday at Wembley.

    Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, already without Sergio Aguero for next week's Manchester derby, also reveals his concern about the knee injury that continues to keep defender Matija Nastasic on the sidelines.

    The Serbia international has missed the last eight games in all competitions having been out longer than initially expected.

    Pellegrini says: "He continues with some pain in his knee. He has at least a couple more weeks to recover. Of course we are concerned because the doctor doesn't know what happened with him. He made all the exams that he needs ,but we don't know what happened with him."

    The organisers of the Tour de France's launch in England this summer have underestimated the potential cost of the event by £2.3m, a report claims. An internal review has looked at the contract to provide barriers, communications, first aid and other aspects of the major public event.

    The document recommends Manchester-based WRG should be given the contract. But the company's bid is priced at £4.5m - an increase of £2.3m on the amount in the original budget.

    The 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart starts in Leeds on 5 July with a stage that runs to Harrogate. The second leg sees the race move from York to Sheffield on 6 July, before the entourage moves south to Cambridge, Essex and London the following day.

    More ahead of Arsene Wenger's 1,000th game in charge of Arsenal. Frank Clark was manager at Nottingham Forest on the day Wenger arrived at in 1996.

    "Arsene was a little ahead of his time but sometimes it's portrayed that English football was in the dark ages when he came and I think that is over-egging the pudding a little bit," Clark tells BBC Sport's Luke Reddy. "It would be fair to say that it was said Arsenal had a bit of a drinking culture and he seemed to shine a light on lifestyle and make players think about it more."

    Jump jockey Joe Tizzard announces he is retiring as a professional rider at the age of 34. Tizzard, who rode mainly for his trainer father Colin, is known for his association with leading steeplechaser Cue Card, who won the Ryanair Chase at last year's Cheltenham Festival.

    Colin Tizzard says: "He just decided this morning that he was going to stop. When you start thinking about stopping, you've just got to stop. It's great Joe has finished in one piece."

    Former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze announces, external he is retiring from playing at the end of the season. The 35-year-old, an Olympic Games gold medal winner with Argentina, is currently playing in his home country for Newell's Old Boys, where he started his career.

    Heinze won the Premier League with United in 2006-07 as well as the League Cup in 2005-06. His former clubs also include Paris St-Germain, Real Madrid, Marseille and Roma.

    Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says Manchester United can overcome Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final. The former Wales striker had spells with both clubs as a player.

    "They can beat Bayern - absolutely," Hughes tells the Daily Star., external "It will be difficult because they are an outstanding team. There was never going to be an easy draw whoever United might have got and they are not having one of their better seasons.

    "But the Olympiakos result was the right reaction and I think David Moyes will turn things around there. It's early days and I'm surprised to see so much speculation about his future."

    Arsene Wenger is a "specialist in failure", according to Jose Mourinho last month. But past and present Premier League managers have been queuing up to praise the Frenchman as he prepares to take charge of his 1,000th Gunners game - against Mourinho's Chelsea.

    When Wenger arrived at Arsenal in 1996, Gerry Francis was in charge of their north London rivals Tottenham. Francis tells BBC Sport's Luke Reddy: "I had agreed to sign Emmanuel Petit and had met him and he was coming to Tottenham, the deal was done. Arsene though had been with Petit at Monaco and he spoke to him and that was that. At the time it was a big blow."

    England full-back Mike Brown clinches the coveted Six Nations 2014 Player of the Championship award, securing over 34% of the public's vote. Over 68,000 people voted to have their say, with 23,408 backing the Harlequins player. Brown scored four tries as England finished second behind Ireland in the tournament.

    England head coach Stuart Lancaster says: "Congratulations to Mike for winning this accolade. He's been consistently strong for us throughout the competition and put in some outstanding performances."
