Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he will contest an FA charge of improper conduct after being sent off during his side's 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa last Saturday. Mourinho says: "I have decided how I will respond and I don't accept the charges. I will speak to them privately now. For obvious reasons I don't accept the charges."

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he "admires" Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's achievement in reaching 1,000 games in charge of the Gunners ahead of their meeting at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

"I admire him and admire Arsenal," adds Mourinho. "Because it is not possible to have 1,000 matches unless the club is also a fantastic club in the way they support their manager, specially in the bad moments and especially when the bad moments were quite a lot.

"The tribute is to say that any one of us managers would love to have the same privilege with our clubs. Could I stay for 1,000 games? I would like to, but it's very difficult. It's even more difficult in modern football. If I can reach 500 with Chelsea it would be fantastic."

Of the teams in the last eight, only Bayern Munich and Real Madrid average more shots per game than Dortmund's 15.1. Their counter-attacking power has only been enhanced by the arrivals of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

They can cut teams apart in seconds. The legendary spirit engineered by manager Jurgen Klopp has largely endured some key departures and a catalogue of injuries this season.

One hour before the draw for the Champions League quarter-finals in Switzerland, and Chelsea manger Jose Mourinho says his team are the "outsiders".

Speaking on Friday ahead of Saturday's match at home Arsenal, Mourinho adds: "I think maybe other teams want to draw us? Why? Because Chelsea are maybe the most outsiders out of all the groups. Us and Manchester United.

"Who do I want to draw? There is nothing to choose. All of the big teams are there, sometimes you have an outsider or someone no-one expects to be there with less experience or potential. But that's not the case because we know what is waiting for us. All the big teams are there and we are happy to be in there."

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino says there is no further news on a new contract. There has been speculation about the 42-year-old's Argentine's future ever since Nicola Cortese left the club as chairman.

Pochettino tells a news conference on Friday: "You know I don't talk about assumptions. When anything happens, there'll be a statement.

"Rumours are normal in football. When I was at Espanyol, I was linked with other clubs and nothing ever came of that."

Arsene Wenger says Saturday's match against Premier League leaders Chelsea is Arsenal's "game of the season". He adds: "We are on a good run.

"We have a doubt over Tomas Rosicky, he will have a test. Everyone else should be available. It's the game of the season for us because it will be against a direct opponent."

Arsene Wenger says his next period in charge of Arsenal is to "deliver trophies". Wenger adds: "We have great players so I'm confident we can win trophies. I'm extremely motivated to stay for as long as possible but I accept that the next thousand will be difficult.

"The next period for us is to deliver trophies and competing with everyone at the top level."

Arsenal have won the Premier League title three times since Wenger took charge in 1996, and the FA Cup four times. But the Gunners are without major silverware since 2005.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has started his news conference ahead of Saturday's match with leaders Chelsea - his 1,000th in charge of the Gunners.

"It's a privilege and an honour to manage 1,000 games at this club," says the 64-year-old Frenchman. "The club has always supported me. Time will tell if I managed to make this club bigger than it was when I arrived, but I hope so."

Captain Stuart Broad is confident England's fortunes will change after a difficult winter in which they lost the Ashes 5-0 and also struggled in the limited-overs format.

Speaking at a news conference ahead of his team's opening World Twenty20 game with New Zealand on Saturday, Broad says: "Despite losing, the warm-up game against India helped us a lot. It's about executing your little processes and we bowled well at the death against world-class players.

"There are positives - the fielding was a highlight - and we can carry that into Saturday's game. There's a lot of excitement and belief that things can turn for us."

Bayern share the record for losing finals - five - with Benfica and Juventus. The only question is how to distil all the talent into a starting XI.

Injuries have saved Pep Guardiola from a lot of tricky choices this season. Any slight defensive concerns appear to have been ironed out by Jerome Boateng's surge in form as well as Guardiola's willingness to use Javi Martinez at centre-back on occasion.

Arsene Wenger's news conference is due to begin any moment ahead of Saturday's fixture with Chelsea - his 1,000th game in charge of the Gunners. Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has paid tribute to Wenger on the eve of his milestone.

Ferguson says: "His undoubted love of the game was always apparent but his abundant energy and desire over all of those years has allowed him to survive in such an intense profession.

"Of course, his ability as a coach, manager and teacher have brought huge successes to Arsenal. However, it is his convictions, beliefs and philosophies that will always remind me that he is a special person. Someone who set out his way at a great football club and produced some wonderful players and teams."

They looked like contenders for the top four but the wheels have come off a bit recently.

"Tim can only work with what he's got. The squad he has got is a decent one and it takes time to settle, and some of the players have found it more difficult to settle in London than they thought."

For once, Barcelona are not leading the possession stakes in this season's competition. They have an average of 67.2% in the matches to date, but Bayern have 69.2%.

It is clear that they do not carry the same aura as they did when Pep Guardiola was in charge. Recent off-pitch instability has affected the club, while the star names are simply getting older. Argentine superstar Lionel Messi's freshness after an extended injury lay-off could also be decisive.
