    West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady says the club would probably refuse permission if Tottenham Hotspur sought to play at the Olympic Stadium.

    Spurs are seeking a ground-share for one season while White Hart Lane is redeveloped, but the Hammers are unlikely to help out.

    "In reality they probably could - but only with our permission," she replied when asked if another club might play matches at the Stratford venue after West Ham move there for the 2016-17 season.

    "No-one has asked us for our permission and if they did we would probably say no, depending on who it is - if you get my drift."

    Gloucester have confirmed centre Henry Trinder has undergone surgery on his injured shoulder, and will be out for an unspecified length of time.

    The 25-year-old England Saxons player started the first two games of the Premiership season but was forced off the field in the win over Sale on 13 September.

    Reading co-chairman Sir John Madejski has described the club's new Thai owners as "decent, straightforward" people.

    Asked by BBC South Today whether he felt they had saved the Championship club, he said: "In many ways I'd say they have."

    He added: "There were other parties interested, but these are the ones I favoured because when you're choosing new owners of a treasured club like Reading you have to be incredibly careful."

    Australian scrum-half Pat Phibbs has agreed a short-term contract with Premiership side Exeter, two years after leaving the Chiefs for Leicester Tigers.

    Jamaican six-time Olympic gold-medal winner Usain Bolt believes he can lower both his 100m and 200m world records, with a sub-19 second time possible for the longer distance.

    Bolt set his 100m and 200m marks at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009 with times of 9.58 seconds and 19.19 seconds respectively.

    "The possibility of me going faster is there but it's for me to stay injury-free," he told Al Jazeera. , external

    "I think everybody wants to see the 100m go but the 200m is for me.

    "One of my biggest goals is to try to run sub-19, pushing the barrier a little bit will be great for me."

    Four Pakistan cricketers have been docked part of their salaries for a lack of fitness.

    Shahid Afridi (pictured), Umar Akmal, Abdul Rehman and Hasan Reza have been fined 25% of their monthly salaries, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed.

    Pakistan face Australia in a series of one-day internationals and two Test matches in the United Arab Emirates next month.

    "The crowd is the same at every Ryder Cup; you expect it to be loud, rowdy and boisterous. It is fun when you have the majority cheering for you, but an away match isn't a bad thing.

    Darren Clarke would make an ideal Ryder Cup captain according to fellow Northern Irishman and Europe's star player Rory McIlroy.

    Clarke was a vice-captain for the European triumphs in 2010 and 2012 but is not involved with Paul McGinley's team at Gleneagles this week. He promoted Colin Montgomerie's bid for the 2014 captaincy before McGinley beat the Scot to the post.

    "There would be no better candidate from the European side," said McIlroy.

    "He is absolutely loved over there. He would be just as well received in the United States as probably the United States captain."

    The 2016 Ryder Cup is to be staged at Hazeltine in Minnesota.

    Winter Olympians Elise Christie and Charlotte Gilmartin, along with Jack Whelbourne, Jon Eley and Richard Shoebridge have all been named in the GB short track skating squad for the upcoming World Cup season following national trials.

    The men will be joined by Josh Cheetham, Paul Stanley and a new addition in Billy Simms who finished fourth in the Open Selection. The squad will travel to Salt Lake City for the opening World Cup from 7-9 November.

    Sir Bradley Wiggins says his form is "better than ever" ahead of tomorrow's individual time trial at the road cycling world championship.

    The former Tour de France winner told BBC Sport the course in Spain suits him more than Germany's three-time world champion Tony Martin.
