    The last time someone other than Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi won Fifa's World Player of the Year award was in 2007 when Brazil's Kaka walked away with the prize.

    Will the duo's domination of the Ballon d'Or be broken this year? It would take a brave man to bet on that happening after both were unsurprisingly named on this year's shortlist.

    The list includes the usual suspects - with the exception of Barcelona's Luis Suarez, who looks to have paid the price for his World Cup bite.
