  1. Heskey extends staypublished at 10:36 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Bolton manager Neil Lennon has confirmed they have extended Emile Heskey's contract until the end of the season, and he wants to keep him at the club beyond the summer.

The 37-year-old striker originally signed a short-term deal until the end of March, but as expected will remain with the Wanderers for the final 10 games of the Championship season.

Heskey's strike-rate hasn't exactly been prolific - he has one goal in 10 games, scored in his first match, against Blackburn.

  2. Mark Hughes news conferencepublished at 10:34 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Mark Hughes says skipper Ryan Shawcross - out since 31 January with a back injury - has trained and has not felt "any effects".

"He is in my thoughts for the game," says the boss.

Huighes then reveals on-loan centre back Philipp Wollscheid is a "doubt" for the match - which means Shawcross may well be needed.

A final few words from the Stoke boss. "Since Boxing Day only two teams have picked up more points than us, so we are in a very good frame of mind," Hughes added.

"WBA will want to address their previous two defeats, because they were big losses for them against their biggest rivals.

"But we have a good squad too, and we have players who currently have a good mindset and a winning mentality."

  3. Mark Hughes news conferencepublished at 10:24 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Hughes is still talking about Tony Pulis, thought this time he's a little more complimentary.

"I think it has worked out well for Tony. He went to Crystal Palace and got a good group of players going. He was outstanding there," said Hughes.

"He has done the same again at West Brom. They arguably weren't in quite as dire a situation, but again he has got them going.

"We are looking forward to the game. We are in good form, we are winning games and we just can't wait to get on the field now."

  5. Mark Hughes news conferencepublished at 10:15 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Mark Sparky Hughes has taken his seat at Stoke and is addressing the media.

And there's a bit of spicy stuff too.

    Take these comments.

"The way we have progressed since I got the job (and Tony Pulis departed) has been quite exceptional, and the players deserve credit for the way they have embraced the new style," he said.

"We have a more possession based game now and we control games. As a consequence of that we are a more accomplished team in my opinion."

Hughes took over from Tony Pulis. Pulis is now manager of West Brom, Saturday's opponents. Whether Pulis will appreciate those observations from Hughes is open to debate...

  7. Game (back) on!published at 10:10 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

The rain has stopped in Sydney and England's match against Afghanistan is back under way.

To remind you, Afghanistan were on 11-7 when the heaven's opened and, after a lengthy break in the pavilion, England are batting, chasing a revised target of 101 off 25 overs.

Should be remarkably straightforward shouldn't it, but this is England we're talking about.

So far, so good though - it's 32-0 off five overs, with Ian Bell and Alex Hales motoring along nicely.

The Sun says Jose Mourinho will be given £75m to spend in the summer, with the Chelsea manager eager to add some steel to his team. There's also more complaining about Chelsea, in very unflattering terms, by Paris St Germain frontman Zlatan Ibrahimovic - sent off, you may recall, in the midweek Champions League match between the club.

  10. All dressed up with nowhere to gopublished at 09:54 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Giedo van der Garde's court case against Sauber has been adjourned until Saturday morning.

Van der Garde, 29, claims the team has failed to honour his race contract for 2015, instead hiring Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson. A court supported Van der Garde's claim earlier this week.

The Dutchman was spotted in the Sauber garage in race overalls on Friday but did not get in the car, with team skipping first practice and running Nasr and Ericsson in FP2.

Van der Garde was unable to drive as he is yet to receive his super-licence, but could drive in third practice on Saturday morning if the documents are secured by then.

  12. Get involved - top fourpublished at 09:39 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Who will join Chelsea and Man City and finish top four in the Premier League?

Jacob Kunnathoor: Arsenal third, Liverpool fourth, Tottenham fifth, Man United sixth. Louis van Gaal loses job.

Nitheshsagar: Liverpool third and Arsenal fourth. Because I see hunger in Liverpool side whereas at Man United they expect someone to perform.

Odoma Michael: I am choosing Liverpool not only because I'm a fan, but clearly the momentum has been with us since the turn of the new year.

Mwanza Chengo: Arsenal and Liverpool are strong contenders for third and fourth place. Man Utd are still brave outsiders. Can surprise either.

  13. Still no Diame and Chester for Hullpublished at 09:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

"There's been reports that Mo Diame would be involved but it's still too early for him unfortunately. We hope that he'll join in in the middle of next week but he's been out now for the best part of four months.

"James Chester will hopefully will get the go-ahead for next week too, so that will hopefully give the whole squad a boost with them coming back, but this weekend they unfortunately won't be available."

The 25-year-old was taken for hospital treatment and will continued to be assessed by medical staff, the club says in a Twitter statement.

  15. Arsene Wenger news conferencepublished at 09:30 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

So to Saturday's game and Wenger is full of praise for opposite number, Hammers manager Sam Allardyce.

"Sam has done extremely well and has a lot of experience. It plays a part in this type of game," says Wenger.

"The mood has been good since the FA Cup win over United but focused as well. We are all looking forward to the West Ham game."

One last piece of injury news - and its good news for club captain Mikel Arteta. "He's back in full training today. I think he'll return in three weeks," says the boss.

And that's it. Arsene leaves for training and the media begin frantically writing up their reports.

  16. Steve Bruce news conferencepublished at 09:27 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

"Whether you play Leicester or one of the top teams, you know it's going to be difficult.

"If we can beat Leicester it's going to be difficult for them to catch us with nine-10 games to play, and there's the incentive for us.

"If we can get to 30 points with nine games to play, psychologically it's a huge number."

  17. Arsene Wenger news conferencepublished at 09:24 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Elsewhere Wenger says Mathieu Flamini is available and young defender Gabriel will return to training on Sunday.

But there's not great news on midfielder Jack Wilshere. "It's very difficult to say when he will be back," says the boss. "We have to respect his recovery."

Given we were told recently that the England man was undergoing routine very minor surgery on his ankle and it was nothing to worry about, that doesn't sound good.

Wilshere has not played since Arsenal's 2-1 home defeat in November, the photo above showing how he sustained his injury.

  18. Hull City news conferencepublished at 09:20 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

The Hull City manager has been talking about his new contract.

"This season's been difficult at times, we've had big problems with injuries, but with all of it I've enjoyed it. When you commit yourself to a new deal the first thing you think is do you have the energy for it, because the Premier League is demanding.

"So those things were going through my mind, but I was delighted to commit myself to the club.

"It's a three-year contract with a year rolling. We've been talking about it for weeks and months really. The big thing was I've enjoyed the last two and a half years."

  19. Arsene Wenger news conferencepublished at 09:19 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

First up from Wenger, some news on the injury to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The winger - who had just returned from a groin injury - limped out of the FA Cup win over Man United earlier in the week.

    ChamberlainImage source, Getty Images

"It's a hamstring injury," says the boss. He'll be out for three to four weeks. It's frustrating for him but he's played more games this season than before. He's shown his importance."

Bad news - but given hamstring injuries can sometimes means a longer spell on the sidelines, maybe not a disaster.
