    Djokovic won the Monte Carlo title over the weekend, becoming the first man to win the opening three Masters events of the season.

    The Jockey Club has reported profits of £21.7m for 2014, down slightly from the previous year's record £22m.

    The organisation runs 15 racecourses including Aintree, Epsom and Newmarket, and stages the Grand National, Cheltenham Festival, as well as the Derby events.

    All the profits made by the Jockey Club go back into racing.

    Aston Villa chief executive Tom Fox believes their FA Cup heroics can help lead the club back to the big time.

    After Tim Sherwood's side set up a final showdown with Arsenal by beating Liverpool, Fox said: "This is something which can create a positive atmosphere and blows through the negativity and clears it out.

    "We have a lot of work to do but I hope it is the beginning of something great. "

    And while we're talking Champions League, Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale looks set to miss the European champions' decisive quarter-final second-leg with Atletico on Wednesday after scans confirmed a muscle injury in his left calf.

    Bale limped off after less than five minutes of Madrid's 3-1 win over Malaga on Saturday.

    "After the tests carried out on Gareth Bale by the Real Madrid medical team, a muscle injury in his left calf has been diagnosed," the club said in a statement on Monday.

    No Premier League football tonight but four big games in the Champions League are taking place over the next couple of evenings.

    It is the second leg of the quarter-finals and there are some very tasty fixtures to look forward to.

    Barcelona host PSG (3-1 after first leg) and Bayern Munich entertain FC Porto (1-3) on Tuesday, while on Wednesday Monaco face Juventus (0-1) and Real take on Atletico in the Madrid derby (0-0).

    As part of the announcement about his Open swan song, Sir Nick Faldo also revealed that he will be among a cast of golf's greatest players taking part in the Champion Golfers' Challenge on Wednesday, 15 July ahead of The Open.

    Faldo will join five-time Champions Peter Thomson, who is celebrating the 60th anniversary of his triumph at St Andrews in 1955, and Watson, on the 40th anniversary of his win in his debut appearance at Carnoustie in 1975.

    Sir Nick Faldo MBE, one of Great Britain's best golfers of the modern era, has announced that he will play in his last Open at St Andrews this summer - on the 25th anniversary of his victory at the home of golf.

    The six-time Major Champion will make a farewell at the course where he became Champion Golfer of the Year in 1990. He also won the Open at Muirfield in 1987 and 1992, and achieved 10 top ten finishes in The Open between 1978 and 2003.

    Faldo, who will celebrate his 58th birthday during The Open, will join five-time Open Champion Tom Watson in making a final appearance in the Championship in July.

    "The Open and St Andrews will forever hold a significant place in my heart," said Faldo. "I look forward to celebrating all that golf has given me."

    Novak Djokovic's opponents must be getting a bit fed up with him - the man just can't stop winning.

    The Serb beat Tomas Berdych to win his second Monte Carlo title and become the first man to win the opening three Masters events of the season.

    The world number one came through 7-5 4-6 6-3 on the clay to extend his winning run in 2015 to 17 matches.

    Djokovic, 27, adds Monte Carlo to the Masters titles he won in Indian Wells and Miami last month.

    Graeme Shinnie is leaving Inverness for hometown club Aberdeen

    Graeme Shinnie wants to set up a perfect ending to his Inverness Caledonian Thistle career - after providing the winner against Celtic.

    It was a pass from the full-back, who will join Aberdeen this summer, that allowed David Raven to secure a 3-2 win in their Scottish Cup semi-final.

    "It would be the perfect ending for me," Shinnie told BBC Scotland.

    "If my last achievement with this club can be lifting the trophy then it'll be the proudest moment of my life."

    Good news for Manchester City fans - tests have confirmed that David Silva did not fracture his cheekbone in Sunday's win over West Ham.

    City's Spanish playmaker was hurt by an elbow from West Ham's Cheikhou Kouyata in the second-half and was stretchered off after lengthy treatment.

    Subsequent hospital tests have showed no fracture and the 29-year-old will be closely monitored ahead of Saturday's Premier League game with Aston Villa.

    Manager Manuel Pellegrini said Senegalese player Kouyata did not catch Silva intentionally.

  20. Humes 'will stay as Colchester boss'published at 10:09 British Summer Time 20 April 2015

    Colchester United chairman Robbie Cowling says Tony Humes will remain as manager even if the club are relegated to League Two this season.

    The U's are four points from safety with three games to play after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe extended their winless run to three.

    Humes, 49, replaced Joe Dunne as Colchester manager in September, having previously been in charge of the club's academy.

    Cowling told BBC Essex: "Tony is the manager of Colchester, I'm extremely pleased with what he's doing. He's going to be the manager next season."
