Bastian Schweinsteiger has thanked Marouane Fellaini for helping him settle into life at Manchester United after his summer move from Bayern Munich

The German wore the No.23 shirt on the pre-season tour of the United States but was handed Fellaini's No.31 ahead of the new Premier League season - which is a special number for him.

"I was happy that the coach gave me the No.31 and was really surprised as well. So thank you to Felli too. For me, I played there since I played my first game for Bayern and 31 means a lot to me," he said.

Barcelona full-back Adriano will miss his side's Spanish Super Cup second leg against Athletic Bilbao on Monday due to a back problem.

The Brazilian was expected to once again deputise for the injured Jordi Alba at left-back as the Catalans look to come back from a 4-0 first leg deficit to claim their fifth trophy of 2015.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho warned his captain and defender John Terry that his place may be under threat after the opening Premier League draw with Swansea City - a week before substituting him at half-time against Manchester City on Sunday.

Mourinho is believed to have been concerned with Terry's form during pre-season and his performance in the 2-2 draw with Swansea.

It will be Henry's first visit since Liverpool's 3-2 win over Tottenham in February.

There have been wins for Durham, Middlesex, Northants, Somerset, Warwickshire and Worcestershire in the latest round of One-Day Cup matches.

Holders Durham beat Derbyshire by 55 runs to stay fourth in Group A, but Northants, who defeated Gloucestershire by four wickets, can deprive them of a place in the last eight if they win at Yorkshire on Tuesday.

Middlesex moved into the top four in Group B with victory over Glamorgan, thanks to Dawid Malan's unbeaten 156, but could lose that place later when Hampshire v Lancashire and Notts v Kent complete their day-night matches.

Oval's capacity to be increased

Surrey have unveiled plans to redevelop the Kia Oval by rebuilding two stands at the end of the season.

The Peter May stand will be modernised, increasing the ground's capacity to over 25,300, making it the second biggest cricket ground in the country behind Lord's.

The project is due to be completed by May 2016.

England centre Jonathan Joseph believes the two teams who qualify from England's Rugby World Cup pool, which also includes Australia, Wales, Fiji and Uruguay, can make it all the way to the Twickenham final.

"It's a tough pool and teams have got to perform to the best of their ability right from the start if they want to go through," he said.

"That's going to help moving on and I don't see any reason why the two teams who get through can't meet again. There are a lot of competitive teams in the tournament but the top two who come through our pool are capable of going all the way to the final."

McKay charged for 'typical foreigner' claim

St Johnstone defender Brad McKay has been charged with making an "offensive comment" about Hearts striker Juanma.

The 22-year-old was widely quoted describing the Spaniard as "a typical foreigner" who "gets touched and goes down" after a 4-3 defeat at Tynecastle earlier this month. And the Scottish FA has now issued a notice of complaint.

McKay has until Monday to respond, with a principal hearing scheduled for 3 September.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has apologised after the old fascist-era Spanish national anthem was played for gold medallist Carolina Marin at the World Championships in Indonesia.

Marin successfully defended her singles title in Jakarta on Sunday against India's Saina Nehwal but the version of Spain's Royal March played at the medal ceremony was the one dating back to General Francisco Franco's far-right dictatorship.

Spain got rid of the words in 1978 and since the death of Franco the Royal March has been played without words.

Mertesacker happy with Arsenal win

Defender Per Mertesacker has revealed how clear-the-air talks helped Arsenal kick-start their Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace.

"Obviously when everything goes very smooth in pre-season, you avoid those talks which are sometimes very important," he said.

"That [the need for those talks] was the case last week when we came out of the West Ham match where no-one knew exactly what we did, so we just had to come back to our game."

Prosecutors call for Pistorius murder charges

South African prosecutors have filed an appeal calling for Oscar Pistorius to be convicted of murder for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The Olympic and Paralympic athlete was jailed last year after being convicted on the lesser charge of manslaughter over the 2013 killing, and is due to be released from prison later this week.

"We hope we can achieve better than the last few seasons - that is the plan. Everyone is gunning for the same thing so we will have it all to do. But if we put in more performances like the one against Southampton and use that as the standard, then we will be ok."

Austin 'unsettled' by transfer speculation

The London Evening Standard reports that QPR striker Charlie Austin has been 'unsettled' by the transfer speculation surrounding him this summer, according to teammate Clint Hill.

The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Loftus Road and manager Chris Ramsey is resigned to losing him before the transfer window closes.

"We won't know probably until the last day of the window," Hill admitted. "There's a lot of attention on him, he doesn't know where he is going to end up. Obviously, it's very unsettling for him."

Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic has closed in on a place in the world's top 10 after winning the Rogers Cup in Toronto when her opponent Simona Halep retired hurt in the final.

The 18-year-old, who beat Serena Williams in the semi-final having earlier defeated Caroline Wozniacki and Ana Ivanovic, came through 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (4-7) 3-0 as the second seed struggled with a leg injury and the extreme heat.

Bencic, who claimed her first title at Eastbourne in June, has won 21 of her past 25 matches and will move from 20th to 12th in the world.

Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey hopes his club form can lead to an England recall.

The 23-year-old won his only cap in a 5-0 World Cup qualifying win over San Marino in October 2012. England face the same opponents away in a Euro 2016 qualifier on 5 September.

Shelvey, who has impressed in Swans' unbeaten Premier League start, said: "That's everyone's dream to play for their country - and it's obviously my dream as well."

And the Queenslander did it in some style with a record score of 20 under par, the lowest total at one of golf's four majors.

Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth, finished three shots back in second place, and will now overtake Rory McIlroy as world number one after the Northern Irishman finished on nine under par.
