    IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby is aiming to become a bigger name in America than fellow Welshman Joe Calzaghe.

    Selby will make his first defence on USA soil against Mexican Fernando Montiel in Arizona on 14 October.

    "I've spoken to Joe Calzaghe and he has said that he wished he went to America a lot sooner than he did," Selby said.

    "He only boxed his last couple of fights out there, but now I am doing it and hopefully I will be the one who benefits by going over there early in my career."

    Bad news for Barcelona midfielder Rafinha, who is to undergo surgery after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right leg.

    The Brazil international suffered the injury during Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Roma in the Champions League.

    Former Great Britain and England prop Garreth Carvell has announced his retirement from the game.

    The 34-year-old made almost 350 appearances during his career and won the Challenge Cup four times, but has been forced to hang up his boots after a series of injuries.

    “I have played professional rugby since I was 16 and although the mind is still willing unfortunately the body has declared it’s time to stop" he said.

    “I’m awaiting a knee replacement and surgery on my neck to replace three prolapsed discs so a lot of recovery time is needed.

    "I’ve got to the stage where I can’t kick a ball around the garden with my son and when the little joys in life like that are out of your reach it’s time to take a step back and realise that the moments are not available forever."

    Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has described the tackle that left Luke Shaw with a double leg fracture as a 'brilliant challenge'.

    Shaw underwent an operation on Tuesday night following the incident involving PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno.

You can always tell by player reactions and none of the United lads at the time, and players are best judges because they are nearest the tackle, didn’t react over the top thinking it was a bad challenge."

    Arnold is one of six reigning champions in the 48-strong squad including Hannah Cockroft Aled Davies, Richard Whitehead, Sophie Hahn, Hollie Arnold and Paul Blake.

    Peacock, who won gold at the last world championships two years ago, is out for the rest of the season, because of a sore on his leg.

    "It’s something that I’ve been managing but it’s now got to the point where I’ve been advised not to run on it," he said,
