Fans fed up with Villa 'panto'published at 09:37

The Aston Villa Supporters' Trust has directed strong words at the club following their "dreadful start to the season" and called for the alleged "infighting" to stop.

It said the board should decide whether manager Tim Sherwood is the man to lead the club and publicly back him - or move on and leave a new coach enough time to turn things around. Villa are currently second from bottom in the Premier League and have one win out of the last nine.

The statement, external read: "For two weeks now there have been stories leaking out of Villa Park, seemingly from both the manager and the club, and the AVST demand that this is brought to an end. Pantomime season does not start for another two months."

Time for your daily Fifa update...Sepp Blatter's payment to Uefa chief Michel Platini was a "conflict of interest", says Domenico Scala, chairman of the world governing body's audit and compliance committee.

Fifa president Blatter, 79, and Frenchman Platini, 60, are suspended while Fifa investigates reports that a £1.35m payment was made in 2011 for work Platini did as Blatter's adviser.

Platini claims the deal was an "oral contract" for work done from 1998-2002.

    Both men deny any wrongdoing.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has lived in Barcelona, New York and Munich. Where next? London? 5 live's football correspondent John Murray certainly thinks so.

Speaking on 5 live Sport before Arsenal's home match against Bayern, John Murray argued that Guardiola will eventually end up managing the Gunners, whilst living in a big house on Regent's Park.

"This morning I was around Regent's Parkway with the big houses and I thought - I could see the Guardiola's here." Murray said speaking to Mark Chapman.

Guardiola's contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season.

  9. United sack Ferguson in 1990published at 08:57

And there's more. BBC Sport marks Back to the Future Day by looking at four possible alternative endings to recent football history..

So we ask what if trophyless Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson had been sacked in 1990? Or if Maradona's "Hand of God" goal at the 1986 World Cup had been chalked off?

How different things might be at Leeds United had Russell Crowe bought his boyhood club, and what if title-chasing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hadn't slipped at Anfield in 2014?

  10. Back to the Future ... againpublished at 08:52

So, if you can cast your mind back to the start of Sportsday - it was a whole 43 minutes ago, so it's tricky we know - and our reference to Back to the Future.

We are, of course, on the date Marty McFly was flung 30 years forward in time to during that epic film (if you haven't seen it then you'll just have to take our word for it - it was epic).

To mark the occasion BBC Sport has put together this rather wonderful feature about what sport might be like in another 30 years time, so - for those without a gold star in Mathermatics - in October 2045.

It includes a look at what the 100m record might be and how, at an Arsenal news conference, "a brain in a jar marked 'Piers Morgan' bubbles and froths in apparent fury".

Confused? Read it and all will become clear...

Jose Mourinho's side have now won just one out of five in all competitions.

Yet this was a much improved display on the European stage by the reigning Premier League champions following their 2-1 defeat away to Porto on 29 September.

Porto's 2-0 win over Maccabi Tel-Aviv means Chelsea remain third in the group with four points from three games, one behind second-placed Kiev and three adrift of leaders Porto.

Chelsea's next Champions League fixture is against Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, 4 November. Before that they face West Ham United away (24 October) and Liverpool at home (31 October) in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, it wasn't quite as happy for Chelsea, who twice hit the woodwork and were denied a penalty en route to being held to a goalless draw by Dynamo Kiev in Group G of the Champions League.

Eden Hazard almost scored on his return, keeper Oleksandr Shovkovskiy tipping his attempt on to a post.

Chelsea had a strong penalty appeal waved away when Cesc Fabregas went down after a Serhiy Rybalka challenge.

Willian's free-kick hit the underside of the bar before Asmir Begovic denied Derlis Gonzalez in Ukraine.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been speaking on BBC Radio 5 live about his former club's win.

How can a team that play so poorly against Olympiakos acquit themselves so well against Bayern Munich, accepted as a member of European football's royalty under the guidance of one of the game's great coaches in Pep Guardiola?

Guardiola is used to enjoying possession without victory at Emirates. When Barcelona lost a two-goal lead to draw here in April 2010, Arsenal only had 38% of possession - in the first half here Bayern enjoyed a 74.5% share.

And yet, once more, Arsenal dug in. They were defensively resilient, dogged in midfield and, even though the two goals were scrambled, they may well prove to be priceless.

First to Arsenal, who revived their Champions League hopes in thrilling fashion with a crucial victory over Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners' hopes of reaching the knockout phase were in serious jeopardy after they lost their opening two games away to Dinamo Zagreb and at home to Olympiakos.

But Arsene Wenger's side responded by beating Pep Guardiola's Bayern - clear favourites to win Group F - and make a nonsense of those dismal earlier performances.

Bayern dominated possession but a bundled-in goal from substitute Olivier Giroud and a stoppage time second from Mesut Ozil secured a famous - and much-needed - victory.
