The Davis Cup - against Belgium - takes place in Ghent from November 27-29.

    Steve McNamara Q&Apublished at 10:10

    Rugby League

England coach Steve McNamara was at BBC Sport HQ on Monday and we put some of your questions to him.

Tom Sweeney: How delighted are you as England coach to have a player of Sam Burgess' ability back in league?

"It is incredible. I am really delighted for our sport. He is going to be sensational back in RL and he is only going to improve our England team."

Tony Hewitt: Why is John Bateman being used as a centre? Do you think we have a shortage of quality in that position?

"We had a couple of players unavailable due to injury. Dan Sarginson, who played that role last year, and Jack Reid, who played for Brisbane Broncos in the NRL Grand Final, who needed shoulder surgery. But I felt John, with the way the games were going to be played, would be our best option this time round."

Seattle Seahawks fans in the NFL show their support for France after Friday's attacks

French journalist Julien Laurens has told 5 live Sport he expects an emotional response when La Marseillaise, the French national anthem, is sung before England play France at Wembley.

"It's going to be a very special night for all the French people in the stadium but especially for the Parisians," he said.

"I’m a Paris boy born and bred - everybody in France will have been hurt by the attacks on Friday but when it’s your town, when you’ve been to that music hall for concerts before, when your parents live there it’s even sadder and more hurtful.

"I know I’m going to cry because when the whole stadium sings La Marseillaise I think it’s going to feel really special."

Who said we only get bad weather in England?

Play has been abandoned for a third successive day in the second Test between India and South Africa in Bangalore because of rain.

The final day's play will begin at 09:15 local time tomorrow if weather permits, but the chances of either side now claiming a win seem remote.

India closed the first day on 80 without loss in reply to South Africa's 214 all out.

The hosts won the first match of the four-Test series by 108 runs in Mohali.

BBC cricket correspondent on Mitchell Johnson's career

"It is one of the most inspiring sporting stories in recent times because he was pilloried and everyone thought frankly destroyed after the 2010-11 tour. The nadir coming when he was out first ball with the Barmy Army singing their Mitchell Johnson song at Sydney and we really thought we’d never see him again.

"But the way that he bowled on the last tour in Australia was awesome. It was proper, genuine pace, the type of which you don’t see very often these days from a left-arm, slingy approach. He was terrifying frankly and he terrified a number of England’s batsmen.

"To come back from where he was to perform like that was absolutely brilliant. I’m not sure I’ve seen a cricketer respond quite so dramatically in Test cricket. He did so without any sort of notion of ‘up yours’ and he still took the banter with the Barmy Army really well. He’s clearly a very nice guy who happens to bowl fast and that series in 2013-14 was his for sure."

David Moyes continued: "I made a firm promise to Real Sociedad to honour my contract and it is disappointing not to be able to fulfil this commitment especially when I have turned down a number of job opportunities in recent months.

"After spending 12 years in the Premier League as manager of Everton and Manchester United, I was keen to take the opportunity to work abroad and have learnt a great deal from the experience."

Moyes thanked the club, players and staff and "the wonderful people of San Sebastian". He added: "It has been a pleasure to work in their beautiful city and immerse myself in their culture. Their warmth and generosity has made me feel very at home over the last year.”

David Moyes says he is "disappointed" following his sacking by Real Sociedad.

Moyes headed to La Liga after losing his job at Manchester United.

In a statement released in the last few minutes via the League Managers Association, Moyes said: "When I accepted the job as manager of La Real last November, my remit was to avoid relegation and retain the club’s La Liga status.

"We succeeded in attaining that target and finished 12th in the table.

"I feel that we made significant progress last season; beating Barcelona in front of our home fans was a memorable highlight.

"I am disappointed to have left the club."

    Ian Wright
Ex-England striker on England v France

"We’ve never had to play a football match under these circumstances. This is new for everybody so we’re going to have to see how the players react.

"Is it going to be intense? Is it going to be just like a friendly where they’re knocking it about because they’ve got other things on their minds? You just don’t know.

"When you play you do try to just switch onto a mode so that when there’s a tackle there to be won you’ll go into the challenge and try to win it.

"It’s only in moments where maybe like me as a forward you’re up the field and the ball’s down the other end you’re more likely to be thinking about it then."

"You’re getting all these soundbites, which is what people are telling you to say but you do want to go out there and be as professional as you can.

"I remember we had to play a game when Lady Diana died and that was strange in itself.

"But with people being murdered and slaughtered, for me, if I was one of the French guys and even if I was one of the English players, I can’t see how playing this game is saying you’re standing up and showing you’re not being beaten.

"This is not a situation for me to be playing a football match in – when you score do you celebrate? How does it work?"
