Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says striker Olivier Giroud deserves more credit after playing a key part in a "perfect week" which saw the Gunners move top of the Premier League.

The Frenchman opened the scoring with a penalty in Sunday's 2-0 winat Aston Villa, his 50th Premier League goal.

He also netted a hat-trick at Olympiakos on Wednesday to help Arsenal reach the Champions League last 16.

"He is at the top of his game, but is sometimes questioned," said Wenger. "Finally the numbers get people to realise he is a good player."

    'We have a small chance'published at 14:16

    FC Midtjylland v Manchester United

FC Midtjylland chairman and Brentford co-director of football Rasmus Ankersen told BT Sport: "We're a small club with a small budget. We can't win by outspending the competition so we have to out-think them and I think that's why we've been successful competing so far in the Europa League.

"There is not a huge chance for us to beat Manchester United but there is a chance and we'll take up the challenge.

"We beat an English team already this season in Southampton. Here's another big challenge for us and we're ready to take it on."

    Augsburg v Liverpoolpublished at 13:28

    Europa League draw

So then, Liverpool face German club Augsburg in the Europa League round of 32.

Here are a few titbits about them:

*They were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history as recently as 2011.

*In the first two seasons, they narrowly avoided relegation - but finished fifth last season to secure Europa league qualification.

*Augsburg is the third-largest city in Bavaria - after Munich and Nuremburg - with a population of 284,000 citizens

*And a highbrow fact to finish... Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's father Leopold was born in Augsburg in 1719. He was a skilled composer and violinist and was known as a hardman central midfielder for the local football club (Ok, so we made the last one up).

    Arsenal v Barcelonapublished at 13:15

    Football

Arsenal secretary David Miles says the draw against Barcelona is the last thing fans would have wanted.

The Gunners have beaten the defending champions just once in seven meetings and even that was not enough to prevent an aggregate defeat in the knockout stages in 2011, their most recent encounter.

"On the back of the great win in Athens we were hoping for a good draw today and I think it's the tie of the round," Miles told BT Sport. "It's not going to be easy and it's the team that most Arsenal fans would have wanted to avoid at this stage but it's up to us to make a good fist of it.
