South Africa XI v Englandpublished at 10:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2015

    Henry Moeran
BBC Test Match Special in Potchefstroom

Lunch on day two in Potchefstroom, and England have had a fine morning with the South African Invitational XI 86-5.

A wicket in the first over for Stuart Broad started things, with Broad doubling his tally before Mark Footitt, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes all got breakthroughs. Both Footitt and Woakes have bowled well as they vie for a place in the first Test in Durban, and will be desperate for more in the afternoon session.

Having set 470-7 declared, and now having reduced their opponents to five wickets down at lunch it’s fair to say England aren’t being overly tested in this first warm-up. The Invitational XI are mainly made up of provincial players (as opposed to the higher grade franchise standard), so the dominance is perhaps of little surprise.

The lunch score is 86-5 in response to England’s 470-7 declared.

Mourinho position in doubtpublished at 10:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2015

    Football

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Jose Mourinho's future as Chelsea manager is under question as it emerges the club's hierarchy held discussions about his position in the last 24 hours.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich led discussions on how the reigning Premier League champions can end a slump that has seen them lose nine of their first 16 games to stand just one point off the relegation places after defeat at Leicester City on Monday night.

Mourinho's position was on the agenda as part of a wider debate about how Chelsea can end the current crisis engulfing Stamford Bridge, although there is no emergency board meeting being held on Wednesday.

It is not yet clear which way the club will go or whether he will be in charge against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday but the fact the Mourinho's position as manager was discussed is an indication of how he may now be under threat after being given public backing by Abramovich earlier this season.

'Jose on the brink'published at 10:06 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2015

    Football

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has questioned Jose Mourinho's behaviour following the champions' defeat to Leicester on Monday and believes the Blues' boss may be edging closer to the sack.

He tells BBC Radio 5 live Breakfast: "At Leicester I just thought it would be the tip of the ice berg for the directors and owner and the way he talked afterwards, you just cannot talk like that about your team.

Mourinho said his players had "betrayed" him after the 2-1 defeat at the King Power stadium leaving his side one point above the relegation zone.

"This is now a critical period," added Cascarino. "It's gone from 'can't win the league' to 'we can't qualify for the Champions League' and now we are fighting relegation. That as a football club will not be acceptable."
