Former Saracens chief executive Ed Griffiths has been discussing the news Steve Borthwick has not been allowed to leave Bristol and join England.

The coach was the subject of an RFU statement on Tuesday stating he would join Eddie Jones' staff but Bristol later said no agreement was in place.

"Bristol have their right to act the way they are but the ultimate outcome seems pretty predictable," Griffiths tells BBC Radio 5 live.

"England have a foreign head coach and a strong bunch of English coaches beneath him. Personally I think an English head coach with a team of top international coaches underneath him would have been another way to go."

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has outlined why he left the club, stating Louis van Gaal told him he had a "one percent chance" of playing up front.

Since joining Bayer Leverkusen for around £7m this summer, Hernandez, 27, has regularly found the net, with 16 goals in his last 15 games.

"Van Gaal said that I only had a one per cent chance of playing in my position, so I headed to Bayer," Hernandez told Spanish newspaper Marca.

"I felt confident from the very first day. I feel important, not just because of my goals, but because I feel that I'll start every game."

    Jose Mourinho

"If you are a big player, and paid like a big player, you must play like a big player and behave like a big player."

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been having his say on the club's ongoing crisis in form. The Premier League champions are now just a point above the relegation zone and have lost nine of 16 matches this season.

"We must always be at the top of our games, and the behaviour has to be better than what we are seeing right now from every single Chelsea player," added Fabregas.

Having declared overnight on 470-7, England have started well with the ball claiming three wickets in the first hour of play.

Opening bowler Stuart Broad looked to have good rhythm from the off and got a wicket with the fourth ball of the innings, as Invitational XI captain Aidan Markram edged to Alastair Cook at first slip. Broad then had another, seeing Luthando Mnyanda playing on for seven.
