Jurgen Klopp news conferencepublished at 14:36

Liverpool v Exeter (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    James Mountford
    Reporter, BBC Radio Merseyside Sport

"Jurgen Klopp certainly sounds like he is very comfortable with the so-called transfer committee at Liverpool, saying that he has the final say when it comes to transfers. He also backed keeper Simon Mignolet, after signing a new contract. Klopp added he hoped he himself would still be at Anfield to talk about the Belgian stopper's next deal.

"One player whose future is uncertain is Jerome Sinclair. Klopp implied the striker had been offered a new contract but said he couldn't force Sinclair to sign it, following reports the youngster will leave Anfield at the end of the season.

"As for the game tomorrow, Klopp confirmed Liverpool will field a similar side to the first game but said that shouldn't be interpreted as disrespecting the FA Cup. Long-term injury victim Jon Flanagan will be in the Reds squad."

West Ham 'agree deal for Byram'published at 14:29

    Football

It could be an exciting week for West Ham fans. West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan says the club are close to signing Leeds full-back Sam Byram in a transfer worth £3.7m.

However, Sullivan is in a cryptic mood about a potential new addition to their forward line: "We have agreed terms with Leeds, agreed terms with the player," says Sullivan regarding Byram.

"There is a possibility a striker will be coming in - an overseas striker from a very strange league, but he has played in higher leagues.

"For every 20 deals you try, you only get one across the line. It had looked like we would do nothing, but it looks like we will do Sam and maybe one other player."

Mauricio Pochettino news conferencepublished at 14:19

Leicester v Tottenham (Weds, 19:45 GMT)

Tottenham and England midfielder Andros Townsend has been linked with a January move to Newcastle and Aston Villa, but Mauricio Pochettino is not going to let him go on the cheap.

The Spurs boss says: "It is true that Andros Townsend does not play much for us, but he is a player in our squad and he needs to wait. It would have to be the right opportunity for the club. Today it is all about rumours - there is nothing clear.

"I am happy with the squad we have - we have quality to fight in different competitions. Maybe the people or you (the media) are concerned but I am happy with the squad we have. If we are to improve we have to add the right player, but if we can't find the right player then we will not buy anyone."

Leicester v Tottenham is live on BBC One on Wednesday from 19:30 GMT.

Jurgen Klopp news conferencepublished at 14:09

Liverpool v Exeter (Weds, 20:00 GMT)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is asked about his side's potential business in the January transfer window.

He replies: "Sometimes my staff and myself have an idea with a player we know, but if I don't want the player to come in, then he won't come. If a player I want doesn't fit our budget then he will not come either."

England international full-back Jon Flanagan could play for Liverpool in their FA Cup third-round replay against Exeter on Wednesday for what would be his first appearances since suffering a serious knee injury in 2014.

"If nothing happens, he is on the bench," adds Klopp. "He has been out for a long time and this is the first step back. To be back in the dressing room, not in a suit but a tracksuit is a good step for him."

Three senior IAAF officials were banned for life for alleged doping breaches.

And Russia is currently banned from all athletics competitions following accusations of widespread doping.

Asked how the scandal facing athletics compared to that of Fifa, Johnson told the BBC: "If you think about the victims, it is absolutely worse."

Jurgen Klopp news conferencepublished at 13:49

Liverpool v Exeter (Weds, 20:00 GMT)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has started his news conference and explains the decision to hand goalkeeper Simon Mignolet a new five-year contract.

"I have heard nothing negative about Simon and there have been a lot of games since I have been here," says Klopp.

"As always with goalkeepers, he has been involved in one or two goals conceded but as the whole package he is perfect.

"He has to develop, but he gives his all to the team and it is a good feeling when he is in the starting line-up. We were sure we wanted to work with him for the next few years and that is why we offered him the new contract. He took it and is here for a long time."

Aston Villa v Wycombe (Tues, 19:45 GMT)

    Geoff Doyle
    BBC Three Counties Radio sport

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth wants to unsettle the Aston Villa fans tonight in their FA Cup third-round replay. So he will tell his players to get off to a quick start against the Premier League's bottom club to try and turn the Villa Park home faithful against their club.

In the first tie at Adams Park, Villa were booed off by their away fans and Ainsworth will play on that again tonight.

"If we can start well, nerves and anxiety from the fans may transmit on to the pitch," said Ainsworth.

"I've been there, where the nervousness of the fans can sometimes affect the way you play and it's tough. As a man I empathise (with Remi Garde) and feel sorry for him, it's not nice.

"As a football manager I want to take every advantage over every situation. If we can find a chink of light and that lets us in then we will be using all we can."

"He played better than me. He played more aggressive than me. He took more risks than me, and he won. Probably he deserved," Nadal said.

"The match is a tough loss for me obviously. It is tough when you work so much and arrive at a very important event and you're going out too early.

"But at the same time, I know I did everything that I can to be ready for it. Was not my day. Let's keep going. That's the only thing."

You might not be aware of it, but there was a major turn-up for the books in Europe last night.

For the first time since May last year, Greek champions Olympiakos dropped points in the league.

They were on a run of 17 consecutive wins, stretching back to the start of the season. But last night they were held to a 1-1 draw by Platanias - a team that has not won since mid-December.

However, we doubt they or their fans will be too concerned - they are 16 points ahead of second-placed AEK Athens in the league.

"I'm hoping my phone hasn't been buzzing in my bag. Kim will message my team if anything goes on and we'll see what happens." - Dad-to-be Andy Murray, awaiting news from wife Kim Sears in case she has gone into labour.

"Be nice if his wife went into labour overnight. I might be just cheering for that one." - Australian Sam Groth, who plays Andy Murray in the second round. Murray says he'll leave Melbourne to dash home for the birth.
