    Nemanja Vidic playing for Inter

There have been reports about former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic making a possible Premier League return and I have spoken to a colleague of his agent Silvano Martina.

His guidance was that Vidic, 34, is in Belgrade with his family having a short break and that he will not decide what he is going to do until after the transfer window has closed.

After leaving Inter Milan he is a free agent and can sign at any time.

There have been suggestions about him moving to the MLS in America but he has not decided anything on that either.

We told you much earlier about Andy Murray's impressive win over big-serving Aussie Sam Groth at the Australian Open.

  5. Vidic return to Premier League?

    Football gossip

The Sun are reporting that Inter Milan and former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is in talks to join Premier League strugglers Aston Villa.

The 34-year-old is a free agent after leaving Inter Milan.

  11. Stoke news conference

Leicester v Stoke (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Michael Keane

Mark Hughes with some thoughts on possible activity during this month's transfer window.

"Sometimes in January it is better to keep your powder dry. There are opportunities if everything falls into place though.

"If something happens that is fantastic, but if not then we will wait until the summer. The talk on [Burnley defender] Michael Keane isn't true."

  12. Sunderland news conference

Sunderland v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce wants to bring in another two outfield players by the end of the transfer window, as well as a third-choice goalkeeper to provide back-up to Vito Mannone and Jordan Pickford.

Striker Dame N'Doye and defender Jan Kirchoff have already been brought in to strengthen the squad.

"We've already got two in and we are obviously pushing for two more outfield players if we can," said Allardyce

  13. Stoke news conference

Leicester v Stoke (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Leicester celebrate

Stoke boss Mark Hughes says second-placed Leicester, who trail leaders Arsenal only on goal difference, "have probably surprised themselves this season. In fairness, it is a continuation of what they did last season.

"They have had the benefit of having two guys up top, Vardy and Mahrez, who are scoring the goals to keep them up towards the top.

"Ranieri has been a top manager for a long time across Europe. He has a group of players who are talented and hasn't changed too much."

  14. Sunderland news conference

Sunderland v Bournemouth (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Lamine Kone

Now we can finally hear from Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce. He says that the club are not to blame for the collapse of a proposed move for Lorient centre-back Lamine Kone.

The Black Cats have twice tried to complete deals for the 26-year-old Ivory Coast international this month, but have not managed to get the transfer sealed.

"I thought we'd struck a deal but it changed. You could perhaps blame us first time, but not second time," said Allardyce.

  15. Stoke news conference

Leicester v Stoke (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Stoke are in seventh place, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and boss Mark Hughes says: "Five of the next six matches are away from home so this is a big period for us.

"It will be challenging but we are looking forward to it.

"We are enjoying what we are producing at the moment. We are in decent shape and are collecting a good amount of points."

  17. Foster to stay with Essex

    Cricket

    James Foster

Former England wicketkeeper James Foster has signed a new two-year contract with Essex.

The 35-year-old has spent his entire professional career with Essex, making his first-class debut in 2000, and has scored over 12,000 first-class runs at an average of 37.08, in addition to 785 dismissals with the gloves.

  18. Southampton news conference

Manchester United v Southampton, (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is hopeful his side can atone for a 3-2 home defeat against Manchester United in September when the teams meet for the return fixture this weekend.

Saints are 10th in the Premier League, seven points behind fifth-placed United.

"In two games that we lost to them we were the better team and we had the better chances but in both home games there were big mistakes in playing the ball back to the goalkeeper but we can beat Man Utd.

"We have to reach a high level and you never know if that happens against them."
